Are weddings bells about to ring for young lovers Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens? According to National Enquirer spies Disney heartbreaker Zac Efron popped the question to his co-star sweetheart, Vanessa Hudgens, while the pair were in Japan promoting the release of High School Musical 3 last month.
Tabloid tattles say the engagement a spur of the moment thing, mostly meant to calm Vanessa’s super-conservative mom who has spoken out against the 21-year-olds recent decision to move in together.
“Zac hasn’t given Vanessa a ring yet. But he’s hoping the proposal will buy him some time with Vanessa’s super-strict mom, Gina, who didn’t approve of the sweethearts living together before they were married.”
If true, Congrats to the cute young couple!

It’s unlikely that High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens will join the cast of Twilight for the highly anticipated sequel, New Moon –at least for now, says screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg.
“I’m not sure about [final] casting but I had heard Vanessa Hudgens was going up for the part of Leah [Clearwater, a werewolf],” Melissa Rosenberg told People at the 61st Annual Directors Guild of America Awards over the weekend. “But at the moment, the part of Leah doesn’t happen until the third movie.”

Vanessa Hudgens isn’t the only former Disney actress who believes she would be perfect for a role in the forthcoming sequel to the hit 2008 movie Twilight.
I hear actress Lindsay Lohan is among the young Hollywood stars clamoring to sink her teeth into the vampire epic New Moon.
“Lindsay is obsessed with the books and thinks she would fit perfectly,” a source close to the unemployed 22-year-old blabs in this week’s edition of Star Magazine. “She’s been bombarding producers and casting directors with calls, e-mails, and texts pleading her case.”
But if you’re hoping to see LiLo cast in the eagerly-anticipated follow-up, don’t hold your breath. The tabloid claims producers are so revolted by the idea of the trouble prone actress tanking their picture, no one will meet with her to discuss an audition

Swag is one of the tackier aspects of celebrity. And that’s really saying something. It’s always aggravating to see wealthy famous people loading up on thousands of dollars worth of luxury goods, but it’s particularly annoying when the vast majority of the rest of the country is struggling to meet basic needs. That didn’t stop actress Vanessa Hudgens from stocking up on $12,000 worth of luxury items at the Golden Globes Sunday night – nor did it keep her from bragging about it, along with her giant new house.
Vanessa Hudgens has a unique recession strategy: Get as much as you can for free. The “High School Musical” star hit the Golden Globes swag suites hard over the weekend, leaving her assistant to carry four “overflowing” bags of freebies, totaling a whopping $12,000.
Hudgens overtook “Access Hollywood’s” Stuff You Must … lounge suite, making sure to “take something from every booth,” our witness said. Among the gratis goods were a one-year pass for her and a pal to a AMC Theatres, a BlackBerry Pearl, a coffee machine, a $4,000 diamond pendant, designer clutches, a year-long gym membership and more.
It was more than a little ironic when, during her spree, Hudgens commented on how overjoyed she was with the “huge house I just bought.” We’re guessing it’s a little easier to fill a new home when you’re spending three hours in a gift lounge.

Vanessa Hudgens has auditioned for a part in the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon, MTV reported on Monday.
The young star, best known for her role as “Gabriella” in Disney’s High School Musical franchise, is hoping to land the role of Leah Clearwater in the second installment of the wildly-popular vampire franchise created by Stephanie Meyer.
Twilight star Ashley Greene, who plays Alice Cullen, Baby V would make a great addition to the cast: “I think she’d be great.”

They’re two of the hottest young stars, and yesterday (January 10) Vanessa Hudgens teamed up with Taylor Lautner at the Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles.
Joining the “High School Musical” sweetheart and the “Twilight” hunk were TV Personality Nancy O’Dell and Maureen McCormick, all out enjoying the CVS Pharmacy Reinventing Beauty Bar “Stuff You Must…” Lounge as part of the Golden Globes celebrations.
There for a reason, Vanessa and friends accepted a check from CVS Pharmacy for $100,000 made payable to the Lollipop Theater Network.
Truly a good cause, Lollipop is “a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the magic of movies currently in theaters to children confined to hospitals nationwide due to chronic or life-threatening illnesses.”

Mariah Carey Wants Leona Lewis To Play Her On Broadway

Mariah Carey wants best-selling British songstress Leona Lewis to play her in a proposed Broadway musical about her rise to stardom.
If chosen, Leona would portray Mariah, the first artist to have her first five singles top the US Billboard 100 chart, from her discovery at age 20.
“Mariah’s not sure if she’ll star in it herself. If she doesn’t, names being tossed around include High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens and Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria. But Mariah secretly likes the idea of Leona Lewis playing her,” one spy whispered to Britain’s Daily Mail early Wednesday.
“Not only is she exotic, she’s the only one who they reckon would be able to tackle Mariah’s eight-octave vocal range.”
A spokeswoman for the diva confirmed: “Mariah is in talks for a Broadway musical to be made about her life in 2009.”
Theater bosses are hoping to have the production ready later this year.
