Reese Witherspoon Buys Groceries For A Stranger

The Oscar-winning star is being hailed a Good Samaritan after digging into her pocket to pick up the tab for a woman who forgot her wallet and couldn’t afford to pay for her groceries.
Reese, 33, took pity on a shamefaced mother during a recent trip to a Whole Foods store in Los Angeles.
A store spywitness tells The Daily Mail: “Reese knows that kids make you lose your mind. When she spotted a harried mom who had forgotten her wallet she picked up the tab. The woman was so flustered and embarrassed. But Reese said she would gladly take care of the $70 bill and no apology was necessary.”
The insider adds: “She told the mom, ‘I understand, I have kids too!’”
Reese — who has a nine-year-old daughter Ava and five-year-old son Deacon — is currently dating actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

In a new interview in the April 2009 issue of Elle, Oscar-wining actress Reese Witherspoon speaks out about getting past her divorce from Ryan Phillippe and briefly talks about her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal:
On her divorce: “Very humiliating and very isolating…But, by the way, if it’s not painful, maybe it wasn’t the right decision to marry to begin with. Those are the appropriate emotions. When people get in your face and say, ‘This will pass,’ you think, Are they crazy? I’m never gonna feel any better than I feel right this minute and nothing’s ever gonna make sense again. And I still have moments where I’m like, Nothings ever gonna make sense again.”
On dealing with the pain that stems from divorce: “You see a lot of people play this blame game. Blame, blame, blame. You know? And it’s a really easy thing to do, and I’m certainly guilty of it. [You have to] look at yourself and go, ‘What part of this do I need to own? Which part of this is my responsibility? And that’s the painful work that you have to go through to hopefully get some real life knowledge out of it.”
On boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal: “He’s fabulous. He really is a fantastic guy. Unfortunately, he’s not in the movie, so we can’t really talk about him.”
On being a young mother: “When I first had Ava, I couldn’t afford [help]. And it was so hard. I was out in Los Angeles, living [away from my family]. I really didn’t have any friends. And I had a baby. No one else who was 22 had a baby. I couldn’t go out.”On her reported Type A personality: “I don’t think I’m a control freak. I think I’m just fearful. I operate from a lot of fear, like, of things being lost or forgotten or neglected. Losing the spiritual rather than the physical. It’s so funny to me that somehow I’ve been portrayed as a very, like, closed-off or uptight person. I’m very open.”
On the paparazzi: “Fascination is gonna die off. I honestly know it. But it’s just like I keep waiting and waiting, and then it’s just more tabloid magazines, and it keeps going. I don’t take a shower everyday. I don’t put on makeup everyday. I wear a lot of sunglasses, in case you noticed.”
On not being diet obsessed: “I’m made of cookies after the holidays. Everything inside me is made of sugar and flour and a little red wine–a lot of red wine.”

Jake Gyllenhaal Plans "Romantic" Egyptian Getaway With Reese Witherspoon

The rumor-mill is working overtime in Britain – the gossip is that Jake Gyllenhaal has decided to propose (or has already proposed) to Reese Witherspoon during an exotic Egyptian getaway.
According to the British travel agency with whom Jake made the arrangements, Jake organized a private jet to take Reese to the pyramids, the Luxor and a private viewing of a newly-discovered mummy. Yikes, maybe it’s not so romantic? A mummy doesn’t really say “marry me”. The Sunday Telegraph has more:
While Reese Witherspoon no doubt enjoyed a Valentine’s gift or two from Jake Gyllenhaal, the Hollywood actress can look forward to an even more romantic treat.
[The] couple, who did not confirm that they were a couple until November, are to be taken on a romantic holiday to Egypt amid rumours that Gyllenhaal may be planning to propose.
“I was asked to organise the trip for Reese Witherspoon and her boyfriend,” said Geoffrey Kent, the founder of Abercrombie & Kent, at the opening of the company’s private travel office at Harrods. “They will go everywhere by private jet and cram as much as possible in. That means Luxor, the Pyramids and possibly a private viewing of the newly discovered Saqqara mummy. They are going to stay in the best hotels and the idea is that it will be quite an experience.”
Gyllenhaal, 28, lived in Notting Hill with Miss Witherspoon, 32, while filming Prince of Persia.

Last week, an interview with Reese came out in Parents magazine, and Reese admitted that her kids think she’s totally embarrassing. I pointed out that not many “embarrassing” moms get to do the dirty with Jake Gyllenhaal. It seems like this Egypt trip might be something more than just romance – think about it, wouldn’t little kids love to see the pyramids? Won’t Deacon love to see a mummy? Perhaps Jake planned a family vacation, not a romantic one.
On a side-note: It must really suck to be that famous that as soon as you book a trip with your travel agent the entire world knows about it!

Big Winners At 'Peoples Choice Awards'

Big winners Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are so cool they didn’t even show up for the People’s Choice Awards, which is a bit of an insult. No worries, because enough big stars stepped up and joined in the first major awards show of the season. The People’s Choice Awards are actually voted on by the people, and I’ve always wondered if winners are told in advance so they’ll actually show up. Other winners included Reese Witherspoon, Will Smith and Katherine “Biting the Hand that Feeds Her” Heigel. People magazine has the run down.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie clearly have the people’s vote. The two were among the big winners at the 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Wednesday night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Pitt was named favorite leading man at the ceremony, while Jolie was voted favorite female action star.
While neither accepted their honors in the flesh, plenty of stars – including Carrie Underwood, Katherine Heigl and the hosts of Dancing with the Stars (winners of the favorite competition/reality show) – collected their trophies in person during the two-hour ceremony which was hosted by Queen Latifah.
Ellen DeGeneres was a good sport as she presented the first award of the night, filling in for Kate Hudson whom, she said, was stuck in traffic and “40 minutes away.” Said DeGeneres with a laugh: “That’s no way to sell a movie.” The talk show host then gave Adam Sandler the favorite funny male star award, and later picked up favorite talk show host herself.
Hudson did arrive in time to collect her award for favorite leading lady – and she took the stage with a triumphant whoop. Hudson also dedicated her award to son Ryder, who was celebrating his fifth birthday that night.
Additionally, Will Smith was a double winner, nabbing favorite male movie star and favorite male action star, while Reese Witherspoon was named favorite female movie star. “This year I won an award for having a baby throw up on me,” the Four Christmases star said on stage.
The night’s definitive winner, though, was The Dark Knight: The latest in the Batman franchise won a total of five awards, including favorite movie and favorite action movie. The movie’s star, Christian Bale, was named favorite superhero and was also recognized, along with the late Heath Ledger, in the favorite on-screen match up category.
Among the other big movie winners: Katherine Heigel’s 27 Dresses won favorite movie comedy and WALL-E took home the award for favorite family movie.

Are Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend Breaking Up?

There’s this pop-culture theory called “The Best Actress Curse” – it’s about how every winner of the Best Actress Oscar will break up with her husband, boyfriend, or significant other, usually within a year of winning her Oscar. It’s held true for Gwyneth “GOOP” Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, and Hillary Swank (the second time she won). But Charlize was always one of the exceptions. She and her long-time boyfriend, hottie Stuart Townsend, have always seemed to have a solid relationship with very little drama. Unfortunately, the honeymoon might be over.
A secret romantic holiday for Hollywood star Charlize Theron to see in the New Year in luxury with her British boyfriend did not go according to plan.
Monster star Charlize, 33, fell into a foul mood after a fall-out with Stuart Townsend, 36, at the exclusive Casa de Miel hotel in Tulum, Mexico. The glum actress was spotted ranting at hotel staff. She kicked off a few times and Stuart took the brunt of it all and didn’t look very happy,’ says a poolside spy.
‘She began shouting about the lights not coming on in her room and was heard complaining about the water not being hot enough.’
It seems the couple were apart for most of the trip, with Charlize attending power yoga classes and playing golf while Stuart relaxed alone at the beach. They returned to Los Angeles on New Year’s Day.

Was she just in a bad mood? PMS maybe? Because it doesn’t sound like they’re breaking up, they’re probably just having one of those nit-picky fights that all couples have. Or maybe I’m wrong. It's Official: Angelina Jolie Highest Paid Actress.

Angelina Jolie has just beat out Reese Witherspoon as the highest paid actress in the world. As if she didn’t already have enough going for her. Angelia rakes in more than $15 million a movie, according to Us Weekly, while her films brought in over $1 billion worldwide last year. So it sounds like she’s a pretty good investment.
Angelina Jolie has topped the Hollywood Reporter’s list of the highest-paid actresses.
Jolie, whose 2008 movies earned nearly $1 billion worldwide, commands more than $15 million a movie, followed by Julia Roberts and last year’s top earner, Reese Witherspoon.
(The actress recently replaced Tom Cruise in the espionage thriller Edwin A. Salt. Shooting begins in February.)
Meanwhile, Jolie ranked No. 24 on The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment: Power 100 list.

The best thing about Angelina, in my not-so-humble opinion, is the amount of money she and Brad Pitt have given away to charity. They recently donated $100,000 to Global Action for Children, and encouraged others to do the same. The pair have consistently given money to worthy causes, especially those supporting kids.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation donated $100,000 to Global Action for Children, it was reported Thursday.
“With the holiday season upon us, we hope the generous gift from the Jolie-Pitt Foundation inspires others to give and focus on assisting orphans and highly vulnerable children around the world,” the charity’s executive director, Jennifer Delaney, said in a statement. “Each and every donation can truly make a difference in the life of a child.”
In 2006, the couple – who are parents to three adopted children – donated $1 million to the GAC. According to tax filings, they donated more than $8 million to various charities through their foundation that year.
“GAC is honored to receive a second grant from the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, and we greatly appreciate the Jolie-Pitt Family’s continued commitment to and support of our work,” Delaney added.

Brad and Angelina have received a fair amount of criticism for all their donations, with a lot of people claiming they just do it for attention. If that’s the case, there’s a lot worse things they could do to get people to notice them. I have yet to see Angelina forget to wear her underpants or Brad beat up a paparazzo. If helping other people gets you some attention, then right on.

Reese Witherspoon Loves '30 Rock'

Reese Witherspoon says she’s wouldn’t mind being the next A-lister to appear on NBC’s 30 Rock.
“30 Rock is awesome,” she tells E! News in a new interview to promote her holiday comedy Four Christmases.
Asked if she could see herself popping up on the show, Witherspoon says, “Oh, sure. Yeah. I love Tina [Fey], and I think she does such a great job, and she really understands comedy for women.”
Witherspoon’s other comedy icons?
“Amy Poehler, Kristen Wiig — all those girls on Saturday Night Love,” [sic] she adds. “It’s been such a great year for women to come out.”

Reese would be awesome as a “30 Rock” guest. She was hilarious on “Friends” when she played Rachel’s younger sister. I also couldn’t agree more with her funny lady pics Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler, & Tina Fey are Comedic in my book!
