Mickey Rourke made it to WrestleMania after all. The Wrestler actor Mickey Rourke returned to the ring to take on WWE superstar Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 25 on Sunday night–and the outcome was a TKO.

A feud has been brewing between the Oscar-nominated star and Jericho for weeks, with the wrestler calling out the actor’s friends, wrestling legends Ric Flair, Roddy Piper and Ricky Steamboat, at previous WWE events.

Roddy, Rick and Ricky climbed into the ring joined by fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka to defend Mickey, but they were defeated by Jericho before Mickey’s entrance.

The Golden Globe winner then removed his cowboy hat and entered the ring, punching out Jericho during the event at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas!

The actor, who was nominated for Leading Actor Academy Award for the 2008 film The Wrestler, who started boxing professionally after the collapse of his Hollywood career in 1991.

The sport left him with bruises, cuts, and a multitude of other injuries that had to be cosmetically corrected.

“Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together,” the 54-year-old admits.

He says, “I had my nose broken twice. I had five operations on my nose and one on a smashed cheekbone.”

“I had to have cartilage taken from my ear to rebuild my nose and a couple of operations to scrape out the cartilage because the scar tissue wasn’t healing properly. That was one of the most painful operations, but the worst was hemorrhoids.”

Mickey Rourkes Chihauhau Loki Passes Away

Sad news for comeback kid Mickey Rourke as he heads to the Oscars this weekend; the actor’s beloved chihuahua, Loki, passed away on Monday night at the age of 18.

The tough star, who is up for a Best Actor Academy Award for his role in The Wrestler has credited his pets with saving his life, claiming they helped him through his darkest days.

The actor spent years in the Hollywood wilderness after countless run-ins with police and hot-headed rows with movie executives, leading to the downfall of his big-screen career.

He hit rock bottom after his split from ex wife Carre Otis, and even though he claims he didn’t consider suicide, Rourke admits he wished he could hide from his personal pain.

In a candid interview for Barbara Walters Oscar Special, Mickey explains:

“The dogs were there when no one else was there. I think I hadn’t left the house for four or five months, and I was sitting in the closet, sleeping in the closet for some reason, and I was in a bad place, and I just remember I was thinking, ‘Oh, man, if I do this.’ And then I looked at my dog, Lowjack, and he made a sound, like a little almost human sound. I don’t have kids, the dogs became everything to me. The dog was looking at me going, ‘Who’s going to take care of me?’”

Mickey and Loki recently appeared in a PETA ad together.

What are the odds of Mickey Rourke hooking up with grammatically-challenged bad ass Courtney Love?

Apparently, not so good.

While being photographed and videotaped on the streets of London Friday, the Oscar-nominated star responded to recent rumors that he is dating the former front lady of Hole.

“I’d rather be on a deserted island with a gorilla,” Mickey retorted.

Well, at least he’s honest!

On Wednesday, Britain’s Mirror reported that Mickey and Courtney began dated after he asked her out on a date following his Golden Globe win last month.

Is it safe to say that Courtney won’t be escorting Mickey to the Academy Awards next weekend?!?

Something tells me we’ll be reading some ineligible blog posting from Ms. Love dissing Mr. Rourke any day now…

Longtime pals Mickey Rourke and Courtney Love have prompted rumors that they are secretly dating after being spotted on a series of clandestine rendezvouses around London and Los Angeles.

“They’ve known each other for years – she’s stuck by him through the good times and the bad. Now he’s back on the Hollywood A-list he’s gone up another notch in the desirability stakes,” an informant for Britain’s Daily Mail said Wednesday.

“Mickey texted Courtney totally out of the blue, around the time of the Golden Globes, asking to take her out for the night. They met up in secret and had an awesome evening. Let’s just say they didn’t stop at holding hands and a chaste peck on the cheek,” the tattle giggles.

'The Great Performers' New York Times Series: Penelope Cruz, Brad Pitt, Mickey Rourke, Kate Winslet, Robert Downey Jr…..

Italian photographer Paolo Pellgrin captured mostly Oscar nominees in everyday moments and the results are both unguarded and moving. I’m not a skilled photographer and I don’t have a great eye for these things but these are some of the loveliest photos I’ve ever seen of celebrities. The slideshow online is accompanied by commentary from NYT Magazine editor Lynn Hirschberg and is highly worth a view and listen. I’m featuring a few photos here, with apologies to Pellgrin and the NY Times, and there are many more available online. The article notes that they tried to show celebrities in their element and in my opinion the photos succeed beyond any I’ve seen in a long time. Hirschberg’s commentary is both insightful and revealing of the personalities behind the famous faces:

Here are some highlights of the slideshow commentary:

Kate Winslet, genuine “What [Pellegrin] was trying to achieve in these photographs was a kind of emotional truth that you can’t achieve… with perfect hair, makeup and a stylist… there is a quality to these pictures of being a little undone.”

Frank Langella, patrician, controlled: “He looks out at the world with a kind of patrician gaze. At least on the surface he seems to be performing. Which is interesting when… you watch him because he rarely seems unguarded. He almost seems as if he’s playing the character of Frank Langella, which is a very imposing character.”

Robert Downey Jr., comfortable and relaxed: “An amazing year… he went from [someone people] had kind of written off to being the biggest star in America, and justifiably so…. Of all the people we photographed… Robert Downey Jr. was by far the most comfortable in front of the camera.”

Sean Penn, unguarded at home: “The Sean Penn that’s out in the world… has a kind of Brando-like intensity. He’s very very conscious of how his face looks when it’s photographed. Which isn’t to say he’s vain… he’s one of the few actors who will not allow himself to be styled… but at the same time he’s very conscious of what it is to be on camera… When he’s home, that’s immediately gone, that disappears.”

Brad Pitt, hounded: “Perhaps the most photographed person in the world right now… He wanted to go out on his motorcycle… He has to be followed by a [security] van… while Pellegrin was photographing him on the bike, his bike broke. Immediately Brad Pitt was besieged by paparazzi and he turned toward [Pellegrin] and said ‘Now you see what my life is like.’ The challenge in this portfolio was trying to capture [him] in a way that [he] had not been captured, as Brad Pitt rather than Brangelina or this persona… or any number of ways that he has been characterized by the public.”

Penelope Cruz, conscious of her image: “Was very self conscious about the idea of us shooting [a dance rehearsal for her film Nine] because it was not perfect.”

Mickey Rourke, loves his dog Loki: “The comeback story of 2008…. The Wrestler kind of mirrored his own story… he was traveling… with his beloved Chihuahu Loki. I believe he’s only gone four days of Loki’s life without being with Loki.”

-Transcribed from NY Times Magazine editor Lynn Hirschberg’s audio commentary

You must go look at the SlideShow these photos are beautifully captured moments. The ones of Robert Downey Jr. are excellent in my opinion.

Sean Penn And Mickey Rourke Call It A Truce

Posted on 04. Feb, 2009 by CSS.

Sean Penn and Mickey Rourke, who are both up for Best Actor trophies at the 2009 Academy Awards in Hollywood this month, have reportedly called a truce and put their reported differences aside after Mickey called Sean’s Oscar-nominated performance in Milk “homophobic” and “average.”

According to The New York Post’s Page Six , the two met for drinks at the Sunset Tower Hotel pool in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon

“Mickey had his little Chihuahua with him for moral support – he looked a little nervous around Sean. Everyone knows Sean can hold a grudge. It was weird, though – some guy they both knew came over with a video camera and started recording them.”

Couldn’t it be that the two never really had a beef? I could see Mickey saying those things in jest about Sean if the two were friends.
