After a tepid debut in 2007, armed with a new look and a take no prisoners approach American Idol Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee is trying her hand at Billboard gold once again with the release of her sophomore album, in stores this January.
I think Katharine has an amazing voice and I love her energy-I’m glad to see her releasing new music.

Kara DioGuardi Reality Show, “Dropped”

Kara Dioguardi is shopping a new reality show that would give recording artists a second shot at stardom after being dropped by their labels.
“It’s called ‘Dropped.’ I’m starting to shop it now,” the American Idol judge told New York Magazine’s Vulture Blog at the G-Star Raw Fashion Show in New York City on Tuesday night.
“It takes the best acts that have been dropped and gives them a second chance. You look at Katy Perry, the Jonas Brothers, Alicia Keys, and Lady Gaga, they all have one thing in common: They’ve all been dropped from their labels,” Kara, a Grammy-winning songwriter continued. “I was dropped. Think about how many times in your life you haven’t achieved one goal, but you’ve achieved another one.”
No word on what networks have expressed interest in her new show. I wonder if Kara will host? With Bo Bice, Taylor Hicks, and Katharine McPhee, and a host of other Idol alums, all having been dumped by their labels, the judge’s new show will have a healthy pool of potential contestants to select from.

Get ready to flex your funny bones, everyone. As you may recall, earlier this month, Katharine McPhee was shopping in Downtown L.A. when she saved from a drooling pack of snapping photogs by a boisterous woman. The rag-wearing woman, identified as “Quween,” swooped in to save the day — offering to open up several cans of Whoop Ass on the “passarassi” if Kat was not allowed to mill through the crowd safely.
Well it sounds like Quween has decided to turn her knack for threatening photographers — and anyone else who gets on her nerves — with bodily harm into a career.
Hilarity ensues when Katharine and Quween team up in a spoof ad for Quween’s Celebrity Protection Agency.
