Mariah & Nick Play Dress-Up For Halloween.
Posted on 31. Oct, 2008 by CSS.
Few things make me happier than photos of Mariah Carey. Because no matter how badly you dress, you can always look at them and say, “Well at least I don’t dress like that.” It’s great for the self esteem. Mariah and husband Nick Cannon dressed as a firefighter and a fireskank for a Halloween party last night in New York. And in true Mariah fashion she was way over the top to the point of embarrassing.
It’s a Halloween accessory to put even the fanciest broomstick to shame – a full-size fire truck.
Mariah Carey arrived at a New York club on the back of the vehicle dressed in a fire jacket and little else.
The singer showed off her bejewelled red underwear and satin red stockings at a strictly for adults Halloween party which she attended with new husband Nick Cannon.

Ashley Olsen Secretly Planning a $1million Wedding.
Posted on 31. Oct, 2008 by CSS.
Ashley Olsen is secretly planning her wedding to her boyfriend of seven months, actor Justin Bartha.
Though it’s not clear if Bartha’s actually popped the question, it appears that Ashley is moving forward with plans for quite the lavish, elegant, and surprisingly taco-centric wedding.
“Ashley has dreamed of having her wedding on the French Riviera, and she’s going to ask her favorite designer and friend, fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, to create a custom-designed gown to the tune of a quarter million dollars!” a pal told THE ENQUIRER.
“She wants to take her vows under a canopy of exotic white flowers as the sun sets behind her at the super-exclusive Hotel du Cap Eden Roc. The place is for the fabulously wealthy and accepts only cash – no credit cards.” The former “Full House” star will shell out $150,000 to charter a private jet to fly in family members and friends, and pay another $400,000 for three nights of deluxe accommodations for them, said the source.
Centerpieces from Moe’s Flowers in West Hollywood will be flown in to the tune of $100,000, and Ashley will fork over another $100,000 for a dinner of tacos, enchiladas and guacamole to be catered by the Mexican restaurant Dos Caminos of New York City, said the source.
“Ashley even wants some of her favorite candy, including Twizzlers, Tootsie Rolls, Sour Patch Kids and Sour Worms to be scattered around the reception for guests to nibble on,” said the pal. “She also wants photographer Anne Leibovitz, who Mary-Kate has worked with, to capture the entire extravaganza on film.”
-From National Enquirer
The Enquirer notes that Ashley’s friend says that even though they haven’t dated that long, “‘Ashley thinks she’s found love.’” I’d say it’s still a little early. Clearly she’s serious about the relationship and it’s nice that she’s so happy, but I wouldn’t be putting down a deposit on that taco cart quite yet.

Gwyneth Paltrow Has Some Diet Tips.
Posted on 31. Oct, 2008 by CSS.
Gwyneth still has not updated her aptly-named site, Goop, after launching it 5 weeks ago with only a single self-important personal statement under its multiple sections: Make, Go, Get, Do and See. She has sent out an e-mail to her mailing list, though, that gives advice from her hand picked experts on how to eat, exercise, and live so that we may all become as healthy, super thin and enlightened as she is.
Gwyneth includes a brief personal statement in the beginning of the e-mail about how her life changed after her father’s cancer diagnosis and subsequent passing. She seems to have coped with her loss by severely controlling her diet and exercising to exhaustion in an attempt to avoid getting sick like her father. She then gives us her doctors’ advice on how to feel better by limiting carbs and sugar, exercising, and going on detox diets.
I guess less diet tips than more of a lifestyle change- I’m not going to knock her for putting this out there, its not all bad.
In 1998, I was filming The Talented Mr. Ripley in Ischia, a little island off the coast of Naples in Italy. I got a call that changed my life. My father had been diagnosed with throat cancer, and it was stage four. Although he underwent treatment and survived for another four years, I watched his health deteriorate slowly until his death in 2002. During this time I began to read about Eastern medicine and the body’s capacity to heal itself. I tried to get my father on board — with mixed results. He loved acupuncture but hated macrobiotic food, which he likened to “biting into The New York Times.” I had read somewhere that in Asia, the concept of going to the doctor when you were already sick was akin to digging a well when you were already thirsty. This struck a chord with me. Over the years I have had my share of medical issues, as we all do. Recently I have found three doctors (one in London, one in New York and one in Los Angeles) who have helped me tremendously. Heeding their advice has helped me out of some very sticky health problems (pneumonia, anemia, stress, etc.). Below they offer their points of view and some ideas about how we can achieve our best health.
— Gwyneth PaltrowHealthier By The Day
You want to feel healthier, everyone does. You want more energy, a better body and the ability to do what you do better. Like most other people, you’ve listened to the experts, read their advice and never been sure which of it applied to you or was really worth doing. That’s because the things that help you get healthier are usually unique to you. There is no universal plan for better health, no best diet, workout routine or way of solving problems. As unique as you are, there are some guidelines you can follow that will help improve your health:
Start with sleep. Sleep eight hours or more each night. Do what you have to do to get to sleep; there are plenty of natural agents that work. Try them: herbs (valerian), tea (chamomile), amino acids (tryptophan or hydroxy-tryptophan) and vitamins (magnesium and B6). These can be powerful sedatives and work just as well as prescription agents without the risks. Sleep plays a powerful role in determining your appetite, energy and attitude. Sleep better for two weeks before changing your diet. Then try eliminating “white” foods, those that are made with sugar, white flour and milk. If you eliminate them one at a time, start with flour, then eliminate dairy and then sugar. Sugar is easier to quit after a few weeks of no other “white” stuff. Remember high fructose corn syrup and dextrose are sugar by another name. Give yourself about two weeks to get used to each before eliminating the next one.
Exercise regularly. I know you want to but you don’t have the energy to do it. Sleep eight hours for two weeks, then start eliminating “white” foods. After two weeks of sleeping and eating better, you’ll have the energy to exercise. Begin as you like. If you are totally out of shape, start by walking 15 minutes a day and add a minute every day for the first month. At the end of a month, you’ll be up to 45 minutes a day, which should make you ready for whatever more strenuous form of exercise you want to try. Experiment with them all to see what works best for you and stick with it.
Police your thoughts and deal with your feelings constructively. Most of the background chatter in our mind is worrying, judging, criticizing, defending and complaining. Catch yourself and create a distraction by redirecting your thoughts toward the things that you are grateful for and optimistic about.
All these are free (okay, except if you have to buy the sleepers) and all are within your ability. No professionals required. By doing them you will create a customized health plan that will surely result in you getting healthier by the day.

Another Inconvenient Truth
The human body is a self-healing, self-renewing, self-cleansing organism. When the right conditions are created, vibrant well-being is its natural state. We have departed from the ways of nature and live under less than natural conditions. Like global warming, the toxicity of our planet is undeniable. I call it “Another Inconvenient Truth.” The air we breathe, the water we drink and shower with, the foods we eat, the cosmetics we use and the buildings we live and work in, are loaded with toxic chemicals that alone or in combination cause disease, suffering and even death. When we remove these obstacles and add what is lacking, our bodies bounce back into health as if by magic. This is natural, common-sense medicine, enabling the body to heal, regenerate and even rejuvenate itself.
With this in mind, if you live in a modern city and want to stay healthy, there are two fundamental practices to follow: detoxification cleansing and eating real foods, just as nature intended food to be.
1) Detoxification cleansing:Approximately eight hours after eating our last meal the processes of digestion, absorption and assimilation are completed and the body enters into detoxification mode, a function we don’t think about often. A healthy body, used to eating natural foods, needs around four hours to cleanse and detoxify itself from all the waste products of normal metabolism. This is without counting the toxic overload of modern life. It’s a really good practice to fast every day for 12 hours after our last meal: eight hours to complete food processing plus four to allow for detoxification. So if your last meal is at 10pm, don’t eat anything before 10am. Breakfast should be exactly that, break-fast, or breaking the fast. This would be enough in a toxin-free world. Since that is not the case, we should periodically make an extra effort to go deeper and catch up with the cleaning, as it were. This is where detox cleansing programs come into play. There are many programs available today based on different systems and philosophies of healing. Some are great, some dangerous. Make sure someone who understands and has experience guides you.
How often and for how long one should engage in detox programs depends on how clean one is to begin with. In addition to all of the above, one should educate oneself as to how to keep our environment toxin-free. Water and air filters, eco-cleaning utensils, chemical free cosmetics, green architecture, alternative fuel vehicles….
2) Real foods:We used to pick our food from trees and the earth, and hunt or fish the rest. Now we buy it in modern supermarkets. Ninety percent of the products in supermarkets come in some kind of container. In order to extend shelf life, these food-like products are loaded with chemicals, preservatives and conservatives that kill bacteria. Most products also contain additives to give them the color, smell, taste and texture that will tempt us to buy and eat them. The remaining 10% of what is edible – the produce, the fish, the meats and the dairy products – are loaded with chemicals as well. All of these chemicals cause havoc inside our bodies, being the most intimate source of toxins for us since we throw this mixture in our bellies and soon enough it passes into our blood.
Returning to a more natural way of eating is the best way to avoid disease and premature aging. It also keeps the weight off. Buy organic foods, shop in your local farmer’s markets. Increase the consumption of vegetables, fruits, seeds, grains and legumes. More raw foods are better for health (enzymes remain intact), the environment (smaller carbon footprint) and the pocket (lower utility bills).
To round things up, don’t forget to nourish your soul. The future of medicine is “no medicine.” If we return to a more natural life, our bodies become the best doctors.

Holistic Detox
My journey with nutrition came from looking after performance artists and dancers who were trying to find a healthy balance between diet, looking good and having enough energy to perform. I use the age-old wisdom of ayurvedic medicine, the holistic approach of osteopathic medicine and basic common sense to help patients realize how to achieve their own optimum health. The older, more natural forms of medicine work predominantly on promoting and improving the body’s ability to eliminate waste (detoxification) and also towards finding balance and well-being. My motivation is towards not only the nutritional needs of a healthy body, but also on encouraging better sleep patterns, ways of coping with stress and reducing its effects on the body, and teaching individuals how to care for themselves and make healthy lifestyle choices: the true mind-body-spirit sense of health and well-being.
My first bestselling book, Joshi’s Holistic Detox explains in more detail the fundamentals of my detox and dietary program, but its essence lies in:
* Avoiding all refined carbohydrates including white flour and sugar
* Avoiding all foods with chemical preservatives and flavorings including foods that contain toxic elements (such as heavy metals, e.g. tuna)
* Drinking at least one to two liters of pure water daily to help the body clean and detoxify itself
* Eating fruit and vegetables that are ripe, fresh and as free of chemical fertilizers as possible
* Minimizing tea, coffee, dairy products, and alcohol
* Boosting your health and vitality with a diet rich in organic, ripe fruits and vegetables.
* Eating protein such as white fish or white meats with each meal
* Sleeping at least eight hours a night and practicing some gentle exercise, yoga or meditation every day to reduce the effects of stress on the body.Neish Joshi, Joshi Clinic

Robert Downey Jr. & Don Cheadle: First To Sign On For Avengers.
Posted on 31. Oct, 2008 by CSS.
Terrence Howard is kicking himself so hard right now. By allegedly demanding more money to reprise his role as Jim Rhodes in Iron Man 2, he threw away not just a sequel, but a franchise. Don Cheadle, the actor chosen to replace Howard as Rhodes, and Robert Downey Jr. have been the first of a large superhero cast to sign on for Avengers. Jon Favreau, of course, will be back, too.
The men in (and behind) “Iron Man” will be sticking together for more than just the anticipated sequel. Marvel Studios has officially announced that Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau will be teaming up for not only “Iron Man 2,” but also the company’s much-anticipated superhero battle royale “The Avengers.”
Downey will reprise his role as Tony Stark in “Iron Man 2? and again in “The Avengers,” while Cheadle will pick up the part of James “Rhodey” Rhodes previously played by Terrence Howard in “Iron Man.” The latter announcement confirms earlier reports regarding Cheadle’s replacement of Howard, with the additional note that Cheadle will play the character in both “The Avengers” and subsequent “Iron Man” films.
Marvel also confirmed that Favreau will not only return to the director’s chair for “Iron Man 2,” but will also serve as executive producer for “The Avengers.”
-From MTV Movie News
No one is giving out any clues into what’s going on in the movies leading up to Avengers. Favreau has hinted at Samuel L. Jackson returning in Iron Man 2 and a 2010 opening for Iron Man 2 and Thor, leading up to the 2011 release date for Captain American and Avengers. Edward Norton was The Incredible Hulk, but things didn’t end well between Norton and the studio. There has been no word on whether he would come back for Avengers, or if The Hulk will actually be hero or villain.
There’s been some disagreement on the choice of Don Cheadle for the role of Jim Rhodes, who will become War Machine, because he’s always been a more understated, less superhero type actor. But I propose that maybe that’s because he’s not been put in such a role before. I look forward to seeing what Cheadle can do with the character. And if he fails, we’ve seen how easily replaceable the part can be.
I would also like to add that this news comes on the strings of Robert Downey Jr. making some major moves in hollywood by signing on for some great films- He has really turned it around for himself, Robert Downey is currently filming Guy Ritchies Sherlock Holmes- should be a good couple of years for Mr. Downey wouldn’t you say?

Kevin Smith Vows To Drop Some Serious Poundage.
Posted on 31. Oct, 2008 by CSS.
Beloved director Kevin Smith has decided it’s time to drop some weight. He’s been complaining on his blog for months about how fat he thinks he is, and his desire to be alone, away from the press, and drop some serious poundage. In fact Smith recently admitted to the L.A. Times that he broke a toilet due to his girth.
After his new movie “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” reaches theaters Friday, Kevin Smith plans to start counting his calories. Since his doctor called him morbidly obese, he’s giving up the all-you-can-eat lifestyle and taking a “health sabbatical” intended to shed extra pounds he packed on while filming the raunchy, Seth Rogen-starring romantic comedy in Pittsburgh last year.
“I’m going away for a while,” Smith said, puffing a menthol cigarette on the patio of his Hollywood Hills home, “to concentrate on myself. To save my life.”
At a time when Smith has been heavily promoting “Zack and Miri” — perhaps the most commercially viable movie in his 15-year career as a multi-hyphenate actor-writer-director of crude comedies and art-house bromances — the issue of his weight has remained front of mind. The director has been complaining about being fat in radio interviews and fretting about it on his blog much to the chagrin of Weinstein Co. publicists for the film, who have openly wished the director would “talk about something else.” Like, for instance, how closely in tone and casting the movie resembles something conjured up by comedy rainmaker Judd Apatow?
Adding insult to injury, Smith’s girth contributed to an embarrassing incident last week. “I broke a toilet. That’s how heavy I am,” said Smith. “I can’t take all the credit — that was an old toilet and a very waterlogged wall — but my size took that toilet down. I cannot cognitively reframe it and be like, ‘It wasn’t me — it was the toilet.’ It was definitely me. And that’s a wake-up call!”

Courtney Cox Developing A Sitcom Called "Cougar Town"
Posted on 31. Oct, 2008 by CSS.
Courtney Cox is creating a new show, she is teaming up with former Friends writer Bill Lawrence. (Bill is also the creator of Spin City and Scrubs) He is set to produce Cougar Town, while Courtney stars in it- the show is about a newly single 40 year old woman:
Welcome to “Cougar Town.” ABC has greenlighted a single-camera comedy pilot from “Scrubs” creator Bill Lawrence to star “Friends” alumna Courteney Cox. Produced by ABC Studios and penned by Lawrence and “Scrubs” writer Kevin Biegel, “Cougar Town” centers on an attractive, newly single 40-year-old mom (Cox) with a 17-year-old son.
“Forty-year-old women on TV are so beautiful and perfect and wrinkle-free,” said Lawrence, who first worked with Cox when he was a writer on “Friends.” “People don’t do the reality of it, and there is a real comedy area about a woman who is talking about Botox, about having sex with the lights on and how her body is changing.”
Lawrence and Biegel had the idea for the show for a while, and Lawrence felt that Cox, whom he describes as “comedically fearless,” would be perfect for the lead. After the actress guest-starred on the opening three episodes of the upcoming season of “Scrubs,” he approached her. Cox said she has been “a huge fan of Bill Lawrence and his comedic sensibilities” since “Friends” and that “after having such a great time with him on ‘Scrubs,’ it felt like the perfect fit.”
-The Hollywood Reporter
I am a big fan of Courtney’s I tried to hang with her on Dirt but it just wasn’t for me- this sounds like a potentially funny show that could be a hit if it’s well written and has a good cast to back it up.

Bill Pullman's Son Arrested.
Posted on 31. Oct, 2008 by CSS.
Get out the banjo, here’s one you don’t hear every day. Actor Bill Pullman’s 19-year-old son Jack was arrested for possessing moonshine and assaulting a government official. I was under the impression that moonshine was best left to the Great Depression, but apparently it holds a great deal of appeal to the teenage spawn of semi-famous actors.
Bill Pullman’s 19-year-old son has been busted for allegedly possessing moonshine and assaulting a government official.
According to Ashville, N.C., news station WLOS, Jack Pullman and his friend, Allan Gaddy, also 19, were arrested Monday and face numerous charges including resisting officers, assaulting a government official, underage drinking and possession of moonshine. The two were released from jail the following night.
Pullman – who starred in Independence Day, Sleepless in Seattle and many other films – has issued no comment.

Speaking as someone who gave her parents hell- I feel for Bill especially being in the limelight and having this news broadcast everywhere…
