Despite being the studio’s reigning teen idol, Miley Cyrus isn’t a fan of Disney’s 1951 animated classic Alice In Wonderland.

“It’s such a perverted movie,”
the Hannah Montana star says in the May 2009 issue of Teen Vogue. “It’s all about Ecstasy. I swear! Look it up online.”

The fantasy film–which was released several decades before ecstasy use became popular–is based on the 1865 book by Lewis Carroll.

Hugh Laurie Regrets Speaking Out About His Struggles With Depression

Posted on 02. Apr, 2009 by CSS.

hugh-laurie depression www.hometownhollywood.comLast year, Hugh Laurie really opened up about his battle with depression. He was extremely honest about the daily and yearly struggles he’s faced, and many applauded him for speaking with such eloquence and candor. As it turns out, Hugh regrets being so forthcoming and honest. He gave an interview to Parade Magazine (quotes via Showbiz Spy) in which he says he wishes he’d kept his mouth shut. He thinks, in retrospect, it sounded like whining from someone who lives a very privileged life. I disagree, but I do see his point:

Hugh Laurie regrets divulging details about his battle with depression – because it riles him when other celebrities whinge about their privileged lives.

The British star recently revealed he was once so low he sought treatment in the mid-1990s – and immediately wished he hadn’t been so forthcoming with details about his personal life.

He tells Parade magazine, “I wish I’d kept my mouth shut about that… Now an undue weight has been given to this aspect of my life.”

“I don’t like to be thought of as this guy who has nothing else to talk about except how miserable my lot was.”

“I remember watching Mel Gibson on some show once, and he was being asked about his belief in the afterlife. Gibson said, ‘Well, I can’t believe this is all there is.’ And I thought, ‘Wait a minute. You’re Mel Gibson. You have millions of dollars. You’re a great-looking chap with every conceivable blessing that could be bestowed upon a man. And that’s not good enough?’”

“So you can see why I’m hesitant to talk about any trivial pain I have. I find myself going, ‘Oh, for God’s sake, Hugh. Pull yourself together.’”

“I do know depression is a disease… It is the last great taboo – something people still don’t want to talk about.”

From Showbiz Spy

I can understand how Hugh would, in an attempt to be self-deprecating, refer to his own battle with depression as “trivial pain.” But I doubt that’s how it really feels to him, or to the millions of people who are really struggling. I do see his point, though. It will be difficult for some to see anything but a fraud or a whiner with a rich and famous actor trying to educate about depression. I still love him, though!

“Hopeless romantic” Kelly Clarkson has never been in love.

In a new interview with Cosmopolitan, the Grammy-winning singer, 26, confesses that she has “never been in love” but is happy to continue waiting for the right man.

“I want to be [in love] so badly. I’m a hopeless romantic, but I haven’t been there yet. I’d prefer to wait for the right one than settle for second best. I don’t think I’d fall in love easily.”

“I had a boyfriend, who I discovered was only with me because he wanted to be famous,” she said. “Oh, and he also had a girlfriend the entire time we were together.”

“I can spot a cheat a mile off these days,” she added.

Kelly’s new album All I Ever Wanted debuts today.

That is the ultimate burn!! Being used to gain fame- it happens all the time, we just rarely hear stars opening up about it!

Guy Ritchie References Madonna As "IT"

Page Six has a new blurb claiming that relations between Madonna and ex-husband Guy Ritchie are still quite frosty, despite them occasionally spending time together for the sake of their kids. In fact, they claim that Guy refers to Madonna as an “it” – something few of us could argue with!

MADONNA’S ex-husband, Guy Ritchie, reportedly has been dissing the Material Girl (above) behind her back by referring to her as “It.” London’s Sun newspaper quoted a source: “Guy will say, ‘Oh, It’s in a bad mood today.’ ” The British director adopted the nasty nickname even before the couple officially split. “Even towards the end of their marriage, he would call her It. He told people, ‘We can’t make It angry.’ There is absolutely no love lost between them,” the source told the paper. MADONNA’s rep, Liz Rosenberg, shot back to Page Six: “It hasn’t been in a bad mood since the divorce was finalized.

-From Page Six

I have to give props to Liz Rosenberg. That was an awesome response. Much, much better than the usual, “We don’t comment on our client’s private lives.” To be fair, there are a lot of worse things to call someone than an “it.”

I think it’s pretty comical…

Kanye West Puts His Foot Back In His Mouth… Tsk Tsk Kanye

Posted on 01. Mar, 2009 by CSS.

Kanye West is known for saying things that get him in trouble. I don’t think he actually lacks that self-censoring device most of us have in our brains, he just continually chooses to ignore his. And I will give him credit – he gets a lot of attention for it, and that’s got to be good for his career. But some unfortunate stuff slips out of his mouth on occasion. And by “on occasion,” I mean more often than not.

During a February 13th taping of VH1’s “Storytellers,” Kanye talked about a feud with Radiohead, made supportive statements about Chris Brown… and even O.J. Simpson. Whoops.

Hip-hop star Kanye West trashed Radiohead and said the public should give Chris Brown “a break,” during a recent taping of VH1’s “Storytellers.” But the comments will not make it to air when the episode premieres on the lifestyle cable network on Saturday.

The taping, which took place on February 13 at Sony Studios in Los Angeles, lasted three hours. The show’s producers cut it to 90 minutes, after getting network approval to expand the episode from its usual one hour. The idea behind “Storytellers” is that VH1 encourages the artist “to just keep talking,” and producers in turn will “eliminate any ‘gotcha’ moments” that don’t work, Flanagan said.

During the taping, according to a Reuters reporter, West was aggrieved that Radiohead singer Thom Yorke had allegedly snubbed him backstage at the Grammys five days earlier. That hurt, West told the audience, because he idolizes the British band, and considers it one of his few creative rivals. “So when he performed at the Grammys, I sat the f— down,” West said.

A little later, West asked the crowd, “Can’t we give Chris a break? … I know I make mistakes in life.” He was referring to R&B singer Chris Brown, who was arrested on the night of the Grammys on suspicion of beating his girlfriend Rihanna.

In the same context, West earned loud applause with his declaration: “Michael Jackson, amazing. Michael Phelps, amazing … He’s a real f—in’ person; he makes mistakes,” referring to the champion swimmer’s recent bong pipe brouhaha.

VH1 has cleaned up those comments a bit, and it also included West’s less-popular follow-up observation: “O.J. Simpson, amazing. Is he not? What he did, when he did, what he did. Was he not amazing though?”

-From Reuters

Um… um… don’t know how to respond without getting into all sorts of trouble. First: no we cannot give Chris Brown a break. He doesn’t deserve or need one. In fact, on February 10th – just three days before Kanye filmed the “Storytellers” piece, he said, “I was completely devastated by the concept of what I heard,” and “All I want to say is, it’s so devastating. Just as a person, I don’t care how famous she is or even if she just worked at McDonald’s … [abuse] should never happen. It should never come to that place.” That was fairly carefully worded for Kanye, and I was a little surprised by it at the time. He’s known for taking a very forceful position with his opinions. Now I guess we know why.

And O.J. Simpson – really? You really want people to nod along while you call him amazing? Obviously Kanye was talking about his football career, but you can’t separate his career from his crimes when you talk about him anymore. They were so heinous and so divided the country. Kanye can’t expect people to agree when he calls O.J. amazing. Even for him, I can’t imagine how he thought he’d get away with that comment.

Rosario Dawson Details Odd Form Of Punishment She Received As A Child

Posted on 26. Feb, 2009 by CSS.

Rosario Dawson found herself on the receiving end of her a peculiar form of punishment from her mother whenever she acted up as a child.

“My mom licked me — that was her punishment,” says Rosario. “If I was a little uppity or if I didn’t listen or if she wanted to get my attention, she’d lick the side of my face or under my armpit. My mom’s a six-foot-tall amazon and she’d say, ‘You came out of my vagina and I own every part of you,’ and she’d lick me like I was her wee pup and she was a lioness. It was humiliating and really intense. Very primal. It’s not spanking, but it definitely works.”

Joaquin Phoenix Bizarre "Newsweek" Interview:

Posted on 24. Feb, 2009 by CSS.

0

NEWSWEEK: Are you really done with acting?
Yeah.

For good?

Yeah.

Do you think you might go back to it?

I’m not one of those people. I’ve never done that in my life. When I decide to do something, I stick with it, total commitment. I’ve done it. I don’t know what more I can derive from it. And there may be other people who say you’ve never done anything that good, so how can you walk away? I’ve had dudes say, “Don’t go on that, don’t let that be your last picture.”

Didn’t you quit before, when you were a teenager?
That was a break. There was nothing, there were no scripts I wanted to work on. But this is different. I’ve talked about quitting at various times in my life. But this is different than what I’ve felt before, and I’m certainly not going to put myself out there as I have.

Why is Casey filming us?
This is my friend Antoine operating that camera. He was helping me in the studio, and we were just shooting clips that were going to be online. For the site. We started shooting the clips, and we started to amass more stuff. Casey got involved and it seems like an interesting transition.

Do they follow you around everywhere?

We’ve had a couple blowups. He’s gotten into my face a couple times too much.

Do they film you at home? Like hanging out and stuff?

Yeah.

You’re OK with that? You always say you don’t want the people to know about your personal life?

Well, I haven’t signed anything giving people the right to do anything they want with my image, you know what I mean. I have the ultimate say.

I saw some footage of you in Vegas, you were singing. Was that planned?
Well, that’s terrible. It was planned. Prior to that, I’ve done free-styling. That was the first time I did a show, in some ways.

I thought maybe they just called you on stage. But that was a show?

It’s not a show. The place is like a club and people do appearances. So they really weren’t set up. A dude that was supposed to help me set up the tracks had to take off. So I had to do it on my own.

Did you hurt yourself when you fell off the stage?
No, dude. It was about two feet, a little plank. Off the stage were seats where people were sitting. You’re standing there [stands up]; I stepped and I slid down, and I landed like this. And I jumped up like a f–king gentleman.

Do you think you’ll perform more?

Yeah.

Do you write the music yourself?
Yeah.

Do you have a writer that you work with?
Uh-uh.

What is your music going to be about?
Various things. You try to make it honest about what my experience is, there’s stuff about growing up.

Is it going to be autobiographical?
Sure, man. I guess my experience with some stuff is kind of abstract. There’s a great humor in some of the songs. A lot of the songs are really fun. Some of them are kind of dance songs. There’s some sexy songs, some club songs. But I don’t know. I’m not the kind of writer that makes the decision, and says, “This is going to be about Egypt.” I do whatever comes to me.

This is your last movie. When you look back over your career, do you have a favorite performance?

No.

What about “Gladiator”?
I saw part of “Gladiator.”

You didn’t go to the premiere?

I went to the premiere, but I didn’t stay.

Have you seen “Two Lovers”?
No.

You’re not curious about what it’s like?
I was in it.

But you weren’t in all the scenes.

It’s all right. I’m sure they were great.

Most actors who I talk to are interested in how a director puts a movie together.
[Silence] No.

Did you prepare for this movie?

In what way?

What appealed to you about the movie?
Just the opportunity to work with [director] James [Gray] again.

Did you tell him this is your last picture?

I didn’t know then. James and I have talked about it many times. It’s been a slow-going dissatisfaction with the process for me.

What about it doesn’t appeal to you?

I don’t know. The mystery is lost now. There was a time when I read a script and I just got excited about the possibilities. Most recently, I read a script and all I  thought about was makeup and hair people touching me and having to do press and f–king whatever s–t.

Are you going to do anything else in addition to the music, artistically?

No. I’m a bit of … I like photography. I have a bit of an eye for that. Nothing serious. It’s just a hobby. It’s not enough for you? I go from acting, get nominations, then I go to music. I have to do something else?

Who do you shoot? People? Buildings?
Mostly wildlife.

Like what?
I live in the hills, and there are a lot of coyotes and stuff. My friend Michael Muller is a photographer. I don’t know if you know his work. We’ve been going out and shooting at night. It’s literally embarrassing to talk about because I don’t think it’s really noteworthy.

The photos you’ve taken?

I’m just saying it’s another interest.

How did Casey end up involved in doing a documentary?

How did it come up? [To Affleck:] You came over and hung out, because Antoine couldn’t shoot, and everything was out of focus. We started out, my friend Antoine. We started out just using in the studio. We saw the s–t was so dark. You couldn’t see s–t and it was out of focus and stuff.

Casey: That was bulls–t. He was filming and recording. I was watching and thought, “This is interesting, interesting to see this process happen.” Then I got a real cameraperson.

Are you interested in directing, Casey?
Casey: This is just for fun.

Joaquin: Don’t f–king be modest. He’s directed a lot of s–t. Videos, commercials.

Casey: I’m following some guy who takes pictures of coyotes.

He followed you?
Joaquin: No.

Casey: Well, one night you and Michael were going to go out and you said you didn’t want me to go. I went out anyway.

Joaquin: No, you didn’t, dude. You shot anyways?

Casey: I shot you guys getting ready to go. I didn’t know what the hell they are doing. I didn’t see them taking pictures of coyotes, but I got them getting ready. They went in full camouflage.

You were wearing camouflage?
Joaquin: We weren’t wearing camouflage. We were wearing f–king hoodies. Please. Enough. I’m sorry I brought it up.

When do you think your album will come out?

Don’t know. I thought, the idea is growing. I thought it was going to be done by now. I think I have 15 tracks. But I’m actually, this sounds horrible, I’m thinking it might be a double record.

You have that many songs?

It came to me so easily. This is the first time I’m involved with something artistically beginning to end. I’m not following what some writers come up with, sitting in his f–king beach house and s–t. I’m not having to deal with what the director’s ultimate vision of the thing is. I don’t have a studio telling me my release date is this. I’ll release it whenever the f–k I want.

Who do you like listening to right now?
There’s not that many new cats that I’m that into. For me, I think the years of hip-hop were ‘87 through ‘93.

You’ve always been interested in hip-hop.
Oh, yeah. [Publicist comes in] OK, let’s talk about the movie.

But you haven’t seen the movie. What do you want to say about the movie?

I don’t know. We could wrap this up, too.

I think, the thing is, all the journalists waiting outside to talk to you are wondering if this is a hoax. But it’s not. You seem legitimately interested in music.
It’s hard not to get offended when you sit there with your little smile when you say, “We think this is a hoax.” Because you’re talking about my life. As if my life is a f–king joke to you! You can do the “some may say,” and put it on them. But it’s your question. It’s hard not to take it personally and feel like you’re saying my life is a f–king joke.

Well, that’s not what I’m saying.

Well, it feels like that’s what you’re saying.

I apologize if that’s how it came across. But people are confused about why you’re filming them today.
They don’t have to be part of it. They can think it’s a f–king joke. You can think whatever you want, you can write whatever you want. But my life is my f–king life.

No, man, I wasn’t implying that.
It’s fine. But it’s hard! I don’t want to be sensitive about it. But it’s hard! To feel that you do something that you’re putting your heart into, it means a lot to you, and people are saying it’s a f–king joke.

I think it’s hard for us to understand what’s going on with you. And you made the announcement so quickly on a red carpet.

For you, I understand that perspective. You’re outside something. This big decision is something that’s been happening for me. It’s hard not to get pissed off. I don’t do press. I’m doing this press line, and I honestly feel my only obligation is to my fans. To the people who are interested in what I’m doing. I felt this obligation to say, “I’m not going to be appearing in films anymore. And this is what I’m going to be doing.” Maybe some of my fans will be interested in it. Maybe they won’t. I don’t know.

Do you reach out to your fans? Do you answer their letters?
No, not really.

Michelle Williams Speaks About Not Raising Matilda In Hollywood

Posted on 24. Feb, 2009 by CSS.

Michelle Williams will not raise her daughter with the late Heath Ledger, in entertainment driven Hollywood.

“I wouldn’t raise [Matilda] there. For all the obvious reasons – being the daughter of… Being an actor’s daughter. It’s a town that’s about one thing and I want her to have options,” Michelle told Britain’s Telegraph over the weekend.

The actress is currently promoting the UK release of her independent film, Wendy and Lucy.

“I felt burnt out, I still feel that, but I’m coming back to my wits, little by little,” she said. “Ultimately I am not yet ready to work. I’ve actually really been enjoying not working… I guess everybody enjoys that.”

Miley Cyrus Gets Studio For Birthday & Announces She Would Like To Be Most Sought After Producer

Posted on 19. Feb, 2009 by CSS.

Behind the wheel with her licensed passenger, Miley Cyrus was spotted rolling around Toluca Lake on Wednesday afternoon (February 18).

The Disney starlet first paid a visit to her Pilates class, getting in a workout before heading off for another day of shopping at the local Rite Aid pharmacy.

Meanwhile, Miley recently drew high praise from her 20-year-old model beau Justin Gaston, who spoke to press in a new interview with the spring issue of VMAN Magazine.

“I look up to her,” Gaston said. “It’s nice to have someone there who already knows what’s going on. It helps you plan your next steps.”

And it sounds like Miley has plans to take Justin to the top of the music world, as she tells, “I just got a studio for my birthday. And I got him a guitar for Christmas. My goal is to become one of the most-wanted producers of 2010, so we have a whole year to get really good.”

Oh Miley, when will it end….

I really wish one of Miley’s handlers would enlighten her to the fact that sticking your tongue through your teeth when you smile, does not make you look cute! Just about every picture of Miley is her sticking her tongue out some way and flashing the peace sign…..makes my skin crawl!
