Julianne Hough Lands Role In ‘Burlesque’ Film

Julianne Hough has landed a role as a dancer in the upcoming movie musical Burlesque, The Boot reported Wednesday. The former Dancing With The Stars pro and rising country star joins a cast that already include Christina Aguilera, Kristen Bell, and Cher.
Julianne also landed herself the lead role in the upcoming remake of Footloose opposite heartthrob Chace Crawford.

Chris Pine Is The New Jack Ryan In The Tom Clancy Franchise

The 29-year-old will play the CIA analyst in a revival of the series based on the popular Tom Clancy novels, according to Variety.
“Tom Clancy created an unforgettable character with Jack Ryan,” Paramount Film Group president Adam Goodman told the trade paper Wednesday. “With Chris in this role, we’ve taken our first step in creating a re-boot that lives up to the successful lineage of the franchise.”
Baldwin was the first to play Ryan in 1990’s The Hunt for Red October. Ford played him in 1992’s Patriot Games and 1994’s Clear and Present Danger. Most recently, Ben Affleck took over the role in the 2002 hit The Sum of All Fears.
It looks like Chris Pine beat out a much older George Clooney. Clooney had previously expressed his eagerness to take on the famous role of Jack Ryan.

Penelope Cruz ‘Sex And The City 2′ Cameo

The Spanish-born, Oscar-winning actress just wrapped filming for a brief cameo in the upcoming chick flick blockbuster Sex And The City 2. Penelope will appear as herself on the red carpet.
The second installment of SATC is shaping up to be quite the star-studded vehicle; the movie will also feature appearance by teen star Miley Cyrus and entertainment legend Liza Minnelli. And that’s not all, Jason Lewis, who plays Smith Jerrod, the younger ex of Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha, was spotted on the film’s New York City set on Monday afternoon.
SATC 2 opens in theaters just in time for Memorial Day Weekend 2010.

‘Couples Retreat’ Saw Huge Box Office Success This Weekend

Vaughn’s Couples Retreat banked the year’s biggest opening for a romantic comedy, with a much-bigger-than-expected $35.3 million, No. 1 Friday-Sunday debut.

Couples Retreat succeeded with the help of 3,000 screens, and a reputed $70 million budget, the better to capture life at an exotic vacation resort. Paranormal Activity succeeded on the “strength” of 159 theaters, and a $11,000 budget, the better (or lower) to invite comparisons to The Blair Witch Project.

Zac Efron hasn’t graced a magazine cover in awhile, but now that he has a new movie to promote, Me and Orson Welles, he pops up on this Nylon magazine cover looking cute as ever.
Efron bashes some of his past work, saying that Me and Orson Welles is “the first time I’ve ever watched a movie [that I'm in] and in the end, I’m like, ‘OK, I didn’t check my watch once.”

Kristen Bell Joins “Burlesque” Movie Cast

Kristen Bell has joined the cast of Burlesque, a dramatic movie musical in which she will star as a rival to pop diva Christina Aguilera.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is about an ambitious small town girl with a strong voice who does well on a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club, reminiscent of the nightclub in Bob Fosse’s Cabaret.
The former star of the now-defunct cult favorite Veronica Mars will play Nikki, who is a dancer and main attraction at the club and goes out of control when Aguilera’s character suddenly steals her spotlight.
Cher and Stanley Tucci are also cast in the movie. Shooting will begin Nov 9 and a release date is planned for Thanksgiving 2010.

“Vacation” Sequel In The Pipelines

New Line Cinema is planning a semi-sequel to the 1983 comedy classic National Lampoon’s Vacation, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The updated comedy will focus on Clark Griswold’s now-grown son, Rusty.
The younger Griswold is now a father in his own right and takes his family on a road trip vacation. Word is Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo will both come back for the film as grandparents.

Adrien Brody Set To Star In Robert Rodriguez “Predators” Remake

Adrien Brody has been cast in a revamped version of Arnold Schwarznegger’s 1987 sci-fi action flick Predator, according to Variety.
In the remake, titled Predators and produced by Robert Rodriguez, the Oscar-winning Pianist star will play a mercenary and alien hunter similar to the one originally played by the California governor. Production will begin in Hawaii and Austin, Texas later this month.
Predators hits theaters July 9, 2010, Variety reports.

“Robsessed” Documentary Release November 10, 2009

Twi-Hards Rejoice! Looks like documentarian Michael Moore will have some competition at the Oscars! At just 23, Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson is already getting his own documentary. Revolver Entertainment will release Robsessed on November 10.
According to the studio’s website, the documentary will be the “ultimate, all-access guide to the world’s biggest, hottest new star” offering “an exclusive, insider’s look into the world of R-Pattz, following his path from a young schoolboy, to his early modeling and acting jobs, all the way through to landing his dazzling role in ‘The Twilight Saga.’”

New Disney Film “The Princess And The Frog” 5 Minute Clip

Disney returns to its 2D animation roots with the release of The Princess And The Frog. The fantasy fairytale features the voice over work of Dreamgirls actress Anika Noni Rose and introduces the world to Disney’s first ever African-American princess.
