Jenny McCarthy Checks Boyfriend Jim Carey Out On-Line
Posted on 14. Jan, 2009 by CSS.
All of us check out celebrities online, but I constantly wonder if celebrities check out themselves or their friends/partners/hook-ups online. As we saw with John Mayer’s rants and most recently with Tina Fey’s Golden Globe acceptance speech, some celebrities do check up on the blogs and gossip sites. Jenny McCarthy is adding her name to the list. She admits to OK! that she reads up on her life partner on the internet, and they even check in with each other via webcam.
In his latest comedy Yes Man, Jim Carrey must say “yes” to every opportunity that comes across his path. In real life, the comedian, 47, has already said yes to a lifetime of love with girlfriend Jenny McCarthy, 36. While these two are happily content to stay unmarried, McCarthy tells OK! that Jim is truly the love of her life and credits him with helping her son, Evan, (who was diagnosed with Austism at 2) get better.
“Jim is a natural therapist,” she explains. “Evan had a lot of anxiety issues, and Jim would soothe his fears by letting him know that it was safe to try something new.”
The party of three seem pretty tight. So what do they do when Jim is away making movies? According to Jenny, she and her funnyman pick up right where they left off at home!
“We text about four times a day. And we talk about three times,” she reveals to OK!. “I go online and check him out. I tell him his outfit looks cute!”
Jenny says she and Jim also use a web cam from time to time!
“I haven’t done any dancing, but I make him do that!” she says. “It’s nice! With the iChat, we’re always afraid that there’s a third party watching! We’re a little bit careful, but it’s a great way to have that face connection!”
You’d think with two comedians in the house, life would be non-stop laughter, but Jenny says she and Jim are much more serious than people think.
“It’s not that we are that funny — like ‘ha, ha, ha,’ when we are with each other” she explains. “I think that’s because we have to do that so often — Jim now more than me. I’m a little more serious now with my work. We talk about real issues.”

Nicole Kidman Couldn't Bare To Watch Herself In 'Austrailia'
Posted on 09. Jan, 2009 by CSS.
Nicole Kidman gave an interview to a Sydney radio station in which she revealed that she had a difficult time sitting through her epic film, Australia, and that it was only the second movie she’d acted in that she’d actually watched in her entire career. Then she said that she fled her native Australia immediately after the film opened in an attempt to avoid reading any negative coverage of her performance:
It was expected to be the blockbuster that saved Australia’s tourist industry – because with ‘local star’ Nicole Kidman in the key role, where could it go wrong?
But in her eyes, her role in the £50 million movie Australia was a flop.
She admits in an astonishing interview with a Sydney radio station that she couldn’t bear to watch it when she attended the premiere in the harbour city in November.
Miss Kidman, who plays an English aristocrat who falls for a cowboy played by fellow Australian Hugh Jackman as they drive a herd of cattle across the outback, told radio station 2dayFM that she couldn’t look at the movie and be proud of what she had done.
In fact, she revealed, she ’squirmed’ in her seat throughout the Sydney premiere.
Miss Kidman, who attended the premiere with country singer husband Keith Urban, said: ‘I can’t look at this movie and be proud of what I’ve done.
‘I sat there and I looked at Keith and went “Am I any good in this movie?”
‘But I thought Brandon Walters (an 11-year-old Aboriginal boy) and Hugh Jackman were wonderful.
‘It’s just impossible for me to connect to it emotionally at all.’
She said she was so nervous about her performance that she fled Australia as soon as the premiere was over with her husband and their five-month-old daughter Sunday Rose.
‘We ran because I didn’t want to read anything. I didn’t want to know.
‘I saw my sister and my family and we saw Keith’s family and then we were straight on a plane.’
She said she had only attended the premiere to please director Baz Luhrmann, with whom she made ‘Moulin Rouge’.
‘I don’t usually see my films, but because of Baz I had to see it. I saw “Moulin Rouge”.
‘I’ve really only seen that and this in my whole career.
‘It gets worse as I get older.’
-From Daily Mail
Kidman’s performance has been widely panned by just about every critic out there. In fact it had a lot of people asking if she could really act anymore. To be fair, an overly-Botoxed brow never helped an actress in terms of her actual performance. But to say Kidman came off as stiff is an understatement. I can’t help but wonder if Nicole would feel similarly about her other movies if she’d seen them. I also can’t get over the fact that she doesn’t watch her own work- how do you expect to grow as an actress if you cant critique what you’ve put out there….. interesting.

Liev Schreiber Had A Really Disfunctional Childhood!
Posted on 08. Jan, 2009 by CSS.
His acting, he says, has complicated roots and comes from a childhood that is infamously dysfunctional. A simple précis couldn’t possibly capture the texture of it (the essayist and writer John Lahr tried to do just this in a lengthy New Yorker magazine profile of Schreiber in 1999). The key points include an early divorce between Schreiber’s blueblood father Tell and his Jewish former communist mother Heather; some time in an upstate New York commune with Heather; Tell kidnapping Schreiber back from Heather; a custody battle won by Heather, followed by a childhood for Schreiber dominated by his mother’s penury (they frequently had no electricity, hot water, or even beds).
He endured her mood swings and bohemian proclivities (she made him take Hindu names, wear yoga shirts, and he was forced, briefly, to go to an Ashram school in Connecticut when he was 12). It culminated in a fractured ankle during football practice at Brooklyn Tech in 1984, when the 17-year-old Schreiber was forced to turn away from sports and eventually towards the stage.
Acting, says Schreiber, is therapy. “I may have been working out my relationship with my mother and my father all along, and I probably will be for the rest of my life. But then that’s one of the luxuries of being an actor — it’s about self-exploration.”
He is now based in Manhattan and in a long-term relationship with fellow actor Naomi Watts, and his life at the moment is defined by the couple’s two infant children, Sasha, 17 months, and four-week-old Samuel Kai. “Remember that voyage of self-exploration I was talking so fondly about just then?” he says, chuckling to himself. “Well it just ends. You go, ‘Awhh sh-t! No more me time!’” He then sighs and quietly confesses: “I am struggling, though. It’s f***ing hard. So little sleep. It’s 23 hours and 59 minutes of exhaustion. But then they do one little thing in that last minute that is just so compelling and fascinating that it makes the other 23 hours and 59 minutes worthwhile.”

Yeesh. A communist mother, a kidnapping, a commune *and* an ashram? You couldn’t write this stuff. I always wonder about people who had extremely messed-up childhoods. Do they work extra hard to give their own kids the “normal” childhood they never had? Or do they screw up their own kids in the same old ways? In the interview, Liev also takes more about X-Men Origins, and his future theatre and film roles.
Schreiber’s next role is even more action-packed — he stars as the mutant supervillain Sabretooth opposite Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the comic blockbuster X-Men Origins this summer. The role, which required four months of bulking up and working out (transforming his already imposing 6ft 3in frame into a thing of hulking beauty), is the final step in Schreiber’s transformation from a man who’s all brains into one with muscles too.
“I like to think I’m part of the new Obama transition,” he says, tongue deeply in cheek. “Obama is hermetically intelligent, he knows what he wants and he never screws up. So maybe now there’s room for intelligent action heroes too.”
The real kick here is the sheer breadth of Schreiber’s professional evolution. A Tony award-winning stage dynamo, he has repeatedly wowed New York critics and crowds alike with his headlining Shakespearean roles (from Cymbeline to Hamlet to Henry V and beyond) since graduating from Yale School of Drama in 1992. “I do think there is some truth to the notion that you have little to fear from any role if you can comfortably break down a Shakespearean soliloquy,” he says, without false modesty.
Furthermore, he adds, children give you some much needed perspective on your work. Because despite the fact that he has a summer blockbuster on the way, and a romantic comedy with Helen Hunt called Every Day, plus a Jude Law sci-fi film, Repossession Mambo, he is still wildly unsure of his career prospects. “You can never be comfortable as an actor,” he says. “It’s like Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle. The minute you name an event it ceases to exist. It’s like that with acting. The minute you say you’re happy with your career, it’s gone. Over.”

Brad Pitt Defends Angelina And Jennifer Aniston In 'W' Magazine.
Posted on 07. Jan, 2009 by CSS.
The Huffington Post pulled some of the best quotes from the W interview, so I’ll just use their version:
Brad Pitt defends partner Angelina Jolie, denies she’s a homewrecker in the February issue W Magazine. Pitt met Jolie on set while still married to Jennifer Aniston, whom he calls “a sweetheart.” He also talks gay marriage and quitting smoking.
On the public’s misinterpretation of his and Jolie’s “affair”…
“What people don’t understand is that we filmed [Mr. & Mrs. Smith] for a year. We were still filming after Jen and I split up. Even then it doesn’t mean that there was some kind of dastardly affair. There wasn’t. I’m very proud of the way that it was handled. It was respectful. [The film] will mean something to our kids. It will, that’s all.”On Aniston’s recent comment that it was “uncool” for Jolie to openly state that she and Pitt fell in love on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith…
“Listen, man, Jen is a sweetheart. I think she got dragged into that one, and then there’s a second round to all of that Angie versus Jen. It’s so created.”On his current relationship with Aniston…
“We still check in with each other. She was a big part of my life, and me hers. I don’t see how there cannot be [that]. That’s life, man. That’s life.”On photographing Jolie for W magazine’s November 2008 photo spread…
“We have fun working together; these things bring you closer. And let me tell you, it’s really sexy to see your loved one through the lens. I went much further [than the cover shot of Jolie breast-feeding]. I didn’t show those.”On how family life has changed him…
“I quit smoking. That was the only thing that got me to quit. That was it. Done.”On gay marriage rights…
“People who are against gay marriage do not understand the very freedoms that they themselves are enjoying. What if someone said, ‘Sorry, no Christianity here? No Judaism. Certainly no Mormons.’ No one would stand for that, and I wouldn’t allow anyone to say that either. I’d fight them in the same way.”

Pete Wentz Pops Ambien Like Skittles.
Posted on 07. Jan, 2009 by CSS.
Pete Wentz has always been the kind of guy who’s open with reporters and shares the type of things most would want to keep private. He freely offers up honest answers even when they’re unflattering. A great example is a recent interview he gave to Blender magazine, in which he said he pops Ambien like Skittles and can take a ton of Xanax without it affecting him.
On a personal level, Pete Wentz is on top of the world as hubby to pop princess Ashlee Simpson and dad to their first child, Bronx Mowgli. Professionally, his band Fall Out Boy continues to rock. But all of that doesn’t mean the 29-year-old is all smiles.
Wentz recently turned up to a breakfast interview at the Beverly Hills Hotel for the upcoming issue Blender Magazine (which hits stands nationwide on Jan. 13) half-an-hour late, reportedly looking worse-for-wear with dark circles around his eyes and a jaundiced-like pale complexion.
He told the reporter that he is lucky to get three hours sleep per night and “pops Ambien like Tropical Skittles.”… “I can take three Xanax bars and not feel a thing. It’s kind of scary,” he added.
Wentz was also overheard by another diner discussing his extreme paranoia and his confrontation with an intruder a few nights earlier. We’re told the bassist was in his kitchen when he saw a man in the security monitor scaling the fence, prompting him to run outside. Wentz claimed the intruder then hopped in his car and sped off, smashing the Range Rover on the way.
According to a Pete pal, the musician’s health is causing a little concern. “He’s always been very hard-working and creative but with the band and the baby and everything that’s going on he’s probably rundown,” said the source.

Patrick Swayze Admits He Is 'Going Through Hell' From Cancer
Posted on 06. Jan, 2009 by CSS.
Patrick Swayze has been fighting aggressive pancreatic cancer for over a year now. Tomorrow ABC is airing a Barbara Walters interview with him, in which he admits that he’s in a great deal of pain, but is proud that he’s defied the odds and fought the disease much longer than most. Swayze says the cancer had already gotten to his liver before he knew anything was wrong.
“You can bet that I’m going through hell,” Swayze says to Walters. “And I’ve only seen the beginning of it… There’s a lot of fear here,” he adds. “There’s a lot of stuff going on. Yeah, I’m scared. Yeah, I’m angry. Yeah, I’m [asking] why me. Yeah, I’m all this stuff.”
As for how he figured out something was wrong, it was exactly one year ago while celebrating New Year’s: “I tried to have champagne, and it would be like pouring acid, you know, on an open wound.”
Soon he found “my indigestion issues got gigantic and constant. And then I started thinking, I’m getting skinny. I dropped about 20 pounds in the blink of an eye. And then when you see it in the mirror, when all of a sudden, you pull your eyes down and the bottom of your eyes go yellow and jaundice sets in — then you know something’s wrong.”
“When you’re shooting, you can’t do drugs,” Swayze tells Walters. “I can’t do Hydrocodone or Vicodin or these kinds of things that take the edge off of it, ’cause it takes the edge off of your brain.”

That sounds so miserable and it makes the heart break for anyone dealing with cancer.

John Mayer Praises BFF Pete Wentz Self Awareness!
Posted on 06. Jan, 2009 by CSS.
John Mayer comments on his friend Pete Wentz’s media savvy in a new interview with Pete in Blender Magazine. When Mayer praises Wentz’s self awareness and how he handles attacks on his partner it sounds just like he’s talking about himself. Maybe these two get along so well because they share a self preoccupation they try to justify with pseudo intellectualism.
Are Pete Wentz’s overshares about his life making your ears bleed? Well, brace yourself. He’s talking again about what it’s like to walk a mile in his shoes in the February issue of Blender magazine, but there’s a bonus in this interview: His pal John Mayer weighs in on “the idea” of Pete Wentz.
“Pete has this fabulous meta-awareness,” Mayer told the magazine. “Some people mistake it for narcissism, but it’s really just his way of playing with the idea of ‘Pete Wentz.’ His genius is he’s always one step ahead.”
Mayer also admires the way Wentz has navigated the perils of tabloid romance with his wife, Ashlee Simpson. “To have this beautiful relationship with someone who gets attacked so often, and to handle it with such grace and respect — I just find that really impressive,” said the rocker.
-From MSNBC’s The Scoop
Mayer’s really talking about himself and how he thinks he handles the press. He’s just so clever, deflecting praise to his friend and planting the seed of acceptance in the public for egotistical musings from all the lesser-cared about celebrities. Mayer and Wentz are geniuses who are exploring their identity through the gossip press, I get it! I can’t thank the guy enough for clarifying that for me.

Tori Spelling Brags About Post-Baby Body!
Posted on 03. Jan, 2009 by CSS.
Tori Spelling had her second child, a daughter named Stella, almost seven months ago. The 35 year-old reality star is also mom to a son, Liam, 20 months. Tori has lost 50 pounds since she last gave birth and is in this week’s In Touch showing off her tight tummy and thin legs in a bikini. Spelling tells the magazine that she “kicks ass” for being able to lose the weight so fast, and calls herself “a working mom of two” who “did it all by myself.”
“When I got my body back after Liam, I was happy,” Tori tells In Touch. “But this time, I was like ‘I kick ass!’ I’m a working mom of two, so to know I did it all by myself was huge.” Now slim, sexy and bikini-ready, Tori exclusively shares how she did it – and how she’ll keep it off.
How much did you gain while pregnant with Stella?
I gained 50. I lost 10 pounds instantly and then another 40.What was your diet like while losing the weight?
Breakfast was yogurt, fruit and nuts. Lunch was homemade soup with a sweet potato or soy milk base. We’d snack on celery and peanut butter, and then I’d make lean protein with vegetables for dinner. How many calories did you eat a day?
I never counted. I just ate healthy. What about exercise?
I would go for long walks or biking with the kids. We’d do physical activities every day.How does it feel being back in a bikini?
I’m proud! I could’ve gotten here sooner if I was fanatical and worked out extensively every day, but I’m glad I didn’t. I’m so happy I did it with my family and in a healthy way.

Congrats Tori- you look amazing!

We Think We've Got It Rough- You Haven't Seen Child Slavery In Haiti

Nightline re-aired a special last night on ‘How to Buy a Child In 10 Hours’
Nightline gave a really eye-opening look into a world of child slavery that really needs attention.
I just watched this and couldn’t help but think how juvenile all my problems are when compared to those of others.
I encourage everyone to watch at least a little bit of it:
I couldn’t get the Nightline episodes embedded so here is the link.

Lady Gaga Thanks Christina Aguilera For Stealing Her Style.
Posted on 02. Jan, 2009 by CSS.
Lady Gaga, a rising star whose infectious hit “Just Dance” has overtaken the airwaves, has responded to Christina Aguilera’s alleged style-stealing. Although Christina has been around for little over a decade now, and the NYC-based Lady Gaga is just starting out, it seems that Christina’s new look was inspired by the younger singer. With their platinum blonde hair, blunt bangs, and similar (scanty) clothing choices, people have been asking: did Christina know that she was copying someone else’s look?
In November, the LA Times did an interview with Christina in which she denied any knowledge of Lada Gaga at all when she was asked to respond to people who saw a resemblance:
“You know, that’s funny that you mention that. This person [Lady Gaga] was just brought to my attention not too long ago. I’m not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don’t know if it is a man or a woman. I just wasn’t sure. I really don’t spend any time on the Internet, so I guess I live a little under a rock in that respect.”
-From LA Times
Now, Lady Gaga is responding to all the press. She says that her association with Christina has led to increased attention to her music:
“Well, it was very flattering when it happened. She’s such a huge star and if anything I should send her flowers, because a lot of people in America didn’t know who I was until that whole thing happened.
“It really put me on the map in a way, though of course I don’t just want to be remembered for the Christina Aguilera scandal.
“There are no hard feelings with Christina at all,” Lady says. “What it showed me was, even thought I have only been on the commercial market for seven or eight months, I’ve really burned graphic images of my visuals onto the irises of my fans.”
-From PopCrunch
Good for her. Although she doesn’t directly defend Christina, it’s nice that she takes press that was actually in her favor and tries to neutralize it. Maybe Christina can copy that as well… All I can say is one of them carries it off while the other definitely does not.
