Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are teaming up to host the 82nd Academy Awards.

The duo will follow 2009 host Hugh Jackman, who announced last week that he would not return to helm next year’s ceremony. While Academy Award-nominated actor Alec is a first-time Oscar host, Steve hosted the 73rd and 75th Academy Awards.

The two men have a friendly hosting rivalry on the sketch comedy hit Saturday Night Live. Steve has hosted SNL 15 times, while Alec has hosted the sketch comedy just 14 times.

“I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin,” Steve said in a statement Tuesday.

“I don’t play the banjo but I’m thrilled to be hosting the Oscars – it’s the opportunity of a lifetime,” Alec added, referencing the comedian legend, who does play the banjo and is currently touring with the bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers.

The 2010 Academy Awards will air live from Kodak Theater at Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles on March 7.

Sparks could fly if Taylor Swift is reunited with nemesis Kanye West on Saturday Night Live.

Ricky Gervais has made a career out of making folks laugh — from his breakthrough British hit The Office (which spawned the American version) as well as his record-breaking podcast, The Ricky Gervais Show — now he’ll have a chance to do it in front of some of the most accomplished entertainers in Hollywood. The British comedian will host the 67th Annual Golden Globes in January, PEOPLE has confirmed.

Ricky will be the first star to host the Golden Globes telecast since 1995.

“We are delighted to have Ricky Gervais as the host on our show,” said Philip Berk, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Ricky couldn’t be more excited: “Not only is this the biggest Hollywood celebration of the industry, which includes both film and TV, but also an environment where I feel I can get free reign as a host. I have resisted many other offers like this, but there are just some things you don’t turn down.”

Neil Patrick Harris will host the 61st Primetime Emmys Awards, airing September 20 on CBS, the network announced on Monday.

The gig is one in a string of award hosting gigs for Harris this year; the star of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother won critical acclaim as host of the 2009 Tony and TV Land Awards this spring.

Last year’s Emmys were widely criticized for the decision to rotate the hosting position between five reality hosts — Tom Bergeron, Jeff Probst, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Ryan Seacrest — who were all nominated in the Best Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Show category.

NBC has picked up pilot “The Community,” starring “The Soup’s” Joel McHale. Joel stars as a fast-talking lawyer who is forced to go back to community college after his undergraduate degree is revoked. While there, he forms a study group with a bunch of misfits including Chevy Chase. McHale’s done some guest-starring roles in other shows before but a starring role like this sounds like a pretty big deal to me. Joel will still remain on The Soup.

Congrats Joel!

In related news ‘The Soup’ franchise continues to stir up spinoffs, launching an edition for sister cabler G4. The new spot will be called “Web Soup” and will be hosted by Chris Hardwick (Attack of The Show, Singled Out). I couldn’t be more excited for this- Chris is incredibly talented and always achieves hilarious banter on the talk shows he appears on- Congrats Chris!chris-hardwick web soup host www.hometownhollywood.com

Handbag designer Camila Alves, who is perhaps best known for her starring role as Matthew McConaughey’s “baby mama,” will head up the next season of Bravo’s Shear Genius.

Camila–who has an infant son with the dashing actor–will replace former host Jaclyn Smith on the third season of the style-focused reality series, which pits aspiring hair stylists against each other in pursuit of $100,000 prize. Camila will be assisted in her hosting duties by judges Kim Vo, hair maven to the stars, as well as reality show vet Jonathan Antin.

I love Jonathan Antin, so glad to see him returning to television! Shear Genius has fallen flat each season but with Camila on board with hosting duties- the show is guaranteed to get a major ratings boost when it premieres!

This just in: Saturday Night Live comic Andy Samberg will host the 18th annual MTV Movie Awards, airing live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif. on Sunday May 31.

This will be Andy’s first time as host of the show.

“I’m super excited to host the movie awards,” Andy said in a press statement released on Monday. “I grew up watching the show and a lot of the past hosts are heroes of mine. Plus my friends and I were writers for the show prior to working at SNL, so it will be a sweet and satisfying homecoming.”

“I can’t wait to act really important,” he continued.

Network bosses have complete confidence in Andy’s ability to get the job done.

“Andy’s connection with the MTV audience is so strong…it’s electric,” said Stephen Friedman, General Manager of MTV. “We can’t wait to see what subversive take he’ll have on our audience’s favorite movies of the year. We, like Andy’s many fans, are thrilled he’s decided to grace MTV with his unique talent.”

In 2007, Andy and Justin Timberlake won a Creative Arts Emmy for their SNL sketch “Dick In A Box.”

Andy is currently starring alongside Paul Rudd and Jason Segel in the new comedy I Love You Man, opening in theaters this Friday.

Congrats Andy, can’t wait to tune in!
