High School Musical’s Ashley Tisdale pays a visit to a very deserving family on this Sunday’s episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The 24-year-old starlet is taking part in the show’s “Get On The Bus Program,” in which celebrities volunteer to take part in the home building process.

Ashley traveled to Green County, Missouri to help the Hampton Family move out of a tiny 800 square foot cottage, where the clan of eight had been living together since the family took in four nieces and nephews who were in danger of ending up in foster care.

“When I saw the family and the reaction to the house I just, like, started tearing up,” Ashley explains. “It’s like this really great deserving family and then also you see like all these volunteers and their family members and their friends just all getting together helping them. It’s just such a great feeling to be part of that.”

Ashley recently moved into her own new home — built by her dad — and the actress was very hands-on in putting together the Hamptons estate. “I helped out a lot around the house. I did the floors in the entryway. I did a little of the designing of Hannah’s room, which is the little girl who was super excited to meet me. I also worked a little bit on the chicken coop in the back and the barn house as well.”

selena Gomez UNICEF ambassador www.hometownhollywood.com

Disney teen star Selena Gomez joins Joel Madden, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Angelina Jolie as the newest celebrity appointed UNICEF ambassador. At 17, Selena is the youngest ambassador in the history of the organization.

The star of Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place spent much of the Labor Day Weekend in a poverty-stricken region of Ghana, working to bring local children clean water, nourishment, education, and access to health care. Ghana is ranked 30 out of 195 countries with the highest mortality rates for children under five

“I’m so honored to be apart of UNICEF! I can’t wait to help out more, it was truly a life changing adventure! Posting more info for you all!” Selena wrote in a post of her Twitter page Monday.

As an ambassador, Selena will help educate and advocate on behalf of UNICEF and support the organization’s mission to help reduce the number of daily preventable deaths of children.

“Every day 25,000 children die from preventable causes. I stand with UNICEF in the belief that we can change that number from 25,000 to zero,” Selena said in a statement last week. “I know we can achieve this because every moment, UNICEF is on the ground providing children with the lifesaving assistance needed to ensure zero becomes a reality.”
