Latest Update In The Death Of A.J. Jewell Ex-Fiance To Kandi Burruss, “The Real Housewives Of Atlanta”

The ex-fiance of “Housewives” star Kandi Burruss was walking and talking after the fight that led to his death.
Initial reports made it seem like Ashley “A.J.” Jewell was left for dead after the fight — which occurred outside of a strip club in Atlanta on Friday night — but law enforcement sources say that wasn’t the case.
Witnesses told authorities A.J. was walking and talking after the fight — and he didn’t even take an ambulance to the hospital, instead hitching a ride with one of his friends.
Suspect Fredrick Richardson is being held without bail and has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office says A.J.’s body showed evidence of a physical altercation — and they’re trying to determine the extent of those injuries while also looking to see if there “was another cause of death.”
The M.E.’s Office also says contrary to other reports, there were no stab wounds found on Jewell’s body.
Fredrick Richardson is being represented by Atlanta defense attorney Dennis Scheib.
Here’s what the AJC had to say about yesterday’s court appearance:
Richardson, his right fingers in a cast, said little during his first court appearance Tuesday morning.
Coming into the jail courtroom, Richardson waived to his 70-year-old mother and one of three children sitting in the rear, behind a glass partition. He spoke only to acknowledged to the judge that he understood the charges against him and that he had an attorney.
While waiting for the hearing to start, Scheib told reporters Jewell started the dispute with Richardson, the general manager at the club since May.
Scheib said Jewell was stretched out on Richardson’s sofa in his office “with a gun” beside him earlier in the day Friday.
Richardson said to Jewell “‘what are you doing?’ He [Jewell] said ‘I’ve got something for you,’” Scheib said.
According to Richardson, Scheib said, Jewell then pulled back the slide on the handgun.
Later in the parking lot, “A.J. comes out and says ‘I’ve got something for you.’ He takes off his shirt.. and hits Richardson twice,” Scheib said.
The two exchange blows and then Richardson leaves the parking lot. He went to the hospital to have his broken index finger treated. Scheib said. As Richardson was driving out of the parking lot, “A.J. was walking away. He wasn’t beaten to death,” Scheib said.
Jewell died later that night at Piedmont Hospital
“We don’t know what killed him,” Scheib said, complaining that a manslaughter charge is premature.
Scheib said Jewell may have had a health problem that caused his death.
Detectives said the deadly argument apparently came out of a slight and a disagreement over the club.
“They had some words about a business decision,” said Lt. Keith Meadows, head of the Atlanta Police Department’s homicide unit. “It seems like there was a struggle for power over the club.”
Fredrick is due back in court on October 20.
It is going to be very interesting to hear all the facts come out in this case. From the argument Fredrick’s attorney is making, it appears Jewell may have been the cause of his own fate.
On a sidenote: The Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion show was set to tape today-no word on if that has been postponed or how involved Kandi will be.
**AJ’s funeral will be held Friday at the Ray of Hope Christian Church on Snapfinger Road in DeKalb County. The time has not yet been determined. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Donald Trimble Mortuary in Decatur.

AJ Jewell, former fiance of ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star Kandi Buruss, was killed Friday night at an Atlanta strip club called Body Tap.
Jewell suffered severe head injuries following a fight. He was taken to Piedmont hospital and died on arrival.
Atlanta police spokesman James Polite says Fredrick Richardson has been arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of Ashley “A.J.” Jewell. Richardson was hospitalized after the alleged fight and will be taken into custody once he is released.
AJ Jewell’s engagement to Kandi Buruss caused conflict on the show between Kandi and her mother, and the engagement was called off just a few months ago. Kandi is the legal guardian of AJ’s twin 12 year old daughters (Jewell has six children), and Kandi’s rep has confirmed the news. Such a sad situation, especially with Jewell having children, our condolences go out to his family.

Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News that Jewell received a severe head injury during a fight at The Body Tap Club in the 1200 block of Marietta Boulevard in Atlanta.”It appears he was involved in an altercation in the parking lot and he received a severe blow to the head,” said Atlanta Police Lt. Keith Meadows. Meadows said Jewell was taken to Piedmont Hospital where he later died.Police said Fredrick Richardson, an employee at the strip club, is charged with voluntary manslaughter and currently being held at Grady Detention in connection with the crime. Authorities said Richardson, who was also injured, will be transported to the Fulton County Jail once he is cleared by medical personnel.
It is being reported that Richardson is an employee of the strip club Body Tap.

Shawne Merriman Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Tila Tequila

Authorities in San Diego say San Diego Chargers star linebacker Shawne Merriman has been arrested on suspicion of choking and restraining MySpace vixen turned TV reality star Tila Tequila, as she tried to leave his Southern California home.
San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Steadman says Tila Tequila, 27, placed a distress call from a home in Poway, north of San Diego, early Sunday. Her boyfriend, Merriman, was later charged with battery and false imprisonment.
A lawyer for Merriman has denied all charges against his sport-star client, insisting he was simply trying to prevent an “extremely inebriated” Tequila from traveling home when he didn’t deem it safe for her to do so alone.
“During the evening, Ms. Tequila was extremely intoxicated, inebriated and Mr. Merriman did everything he could to assist her in arranging for transportation to leave his home,” Todd Macaluso, Merriman’s attorney, said in a statement Sunday. “At no time did Mr. Merriman assault her; at no time did Mr. Merriman keep her against her will. His intentions were nothing but good.”
Tila was taken to a hospital following the incident. She began dating Merriman in July, sparking a bitter feud with his former flame, hip-hop video vixen Gloria Velez. The petite minx, whose real name is Tila Nguyen, is best known for her MTV dating reality show, ‘A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila.’
Shawne Merriman has since released this statement to FoxSports.com:
“On September 6, 2009 the San Diego Sheriff’s Department responded to a citizen’s complaint that was initiated by Tila Nguyen (aka Tila Tequila). I was taken into custody based upon that complaint. At the time, I was concerned about her welfare given the intoxicated state she appeared to be in and I encouraged her to stay until safe transportation could be provided.
“We would all do our best to help a friend if we considered their actions to be detrimental to their personal safety. I in no way caused any harm to Ms. Nguyen, however, paramedics were called and she was examined but no injuries were reported. She was released and has since returned to Los Angeles, California.
“There have been no charges filed against me. I want to thank the San Diego Sheriff’s Department for their professionalism. I will continue to cooperate fully with the Department, and I look forward to clearing my name regarding these false allegations. I want to put this behind me so I can continue to focus on a successful season for the San Diego Chargers.”
Tila took to her Twitter Account to rebut the linebacker’s statement by typing:
“I am allergic to alcohol. It has been publicly known for years. That is how I got the name Tila “Tequila” cuz the irony. I cant drink”

Kylie Minogue Gets Physical With Boyfriend Outside New York Bar

Kylie Minogue reportedly slapped her boyfriend during a public blowout in New York City last week.
The 41-year-old Aussie singer is accused of wacking Spanish model Andres Velencoso — 10 years her junior — in the face during an argument outside the B Bar.
An onlooker told PageSix: “At some point, Kylie and Andres got separated. When Kylie found him, she slapped him in the face with a fan. Then she yelled at him for making her wait outside while he stayed inside and got another drink.”
Despite whispers of trouble in paradise, the “Locomotion” singer is reportedly considering converting to Catholicism so she can have a traditional church wedding to Andres.
The couple began dating last November.

Brooke Sheilds Releases Statement On Kiefer Sutherland-Jack Mccollough Fight

On Monday, lawyers for actress Brooke Shields released a statement in response to reports that she witnessed the alleged argument — and subsequent headbutting –between Kiefer Sutherland and fashion designer Jack McCollough that lead to the 24 star’s collar on third degree assault charges last Friday.
Kiefer allegedly headbutted the Proenza Schouler designer during a MET Costume Gala after party last week.
“A number of statements have been attributed to Ms. Shields in the media that are neither true nor authorized. These statements were obviously made by those who were not in attendance at the party and constitute their version of events,” her lawyers told Entertainment Tonight.
“While at the party she [Shields] was bumped into by Jack McCollough and Kiefer Sutherland became concerned. Kiefer has always been a gentleman in her company. Both Jack and Kiefer are friends of Ms. Shields and she regrets this unfortunate situation,” the statment continued.

Comedian Robert Schimmel Arrested For Beating His Wife

Comedian and Howard Stern show regular Robert Schimmel was arrested early Saturday for alleged spousal abuse of his young wife Melissa Schimmel.
Robert Schimmel is best known for x-rated blue humor, as well as his survival of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He apparently went through a mid life crisis after surviving the disease, as he divorced his first wife Vicki (for the third time) and married Melissa who is half his age.
Schimmel is the author of “Cancer on $5 a Day” and frequently appears on Stern and the Conan O’Brien show.

Britney Spears Playing Mediator For The Pussycat Dolls

Britney Spears is acting as mediator in a brewing feud between the members of sultry singing burlesque troupe The Pussycat Dolls.
The Dolls — who are performing as the opening act on the North American leg of Britney’s Circus Tour — are reportedly at one another throats over recent rumors that lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, 30, is set to go solo. Fellow members of the group are said to unhappy about recent singles, like “Jai Ho,” released as ”The Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger.”
On their European tour, Nicole performed PCD’s latest song “Hush Hush” on her own while the other girls are off stage.
”It’s like a modern version of the old Diana Ross and the Supremes thing,” a music industry insider told The Chicago Sun-Times on Sunday.
But Brit is determined not to let inter-tension between The Dolls negatively impact her show.
”Remember, business comes first. … You can hate each other off-stage, but make it work on stage,” Britney told the group during a recent lecture.
Nicole already tried to go solo right? And nobody showed interest in her album she was working on so it was shelved… or so I thought. This is kinda’ve expected from groups, there is always a member that outshines and becomes its on entity. However, in this case I think Nicole would be best served to stay on with the Pussycat Dolls- I wouldn’t expect to see a large fan base for her as a solo artist.

An unlikely feud is brewing between Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston after the “Waiting For Tonight” star accused the former Friends star of stealing the plot idea for her upcoming film, Plan B.
After taking a break from her music and film career to focus on motherhood, Jennifer is making a comeback with in the film about a thirtysomething who is desperately trying to become pregnant. But according to Britain’s Daily Mail, the singer-actress is angry that Jennifer A. is set to star in a movie with an almost identical plot, called The Baster.
“The last thing J-Lo (Lopez) wants is to have Aniston overshadow her. There’s been some mud-slinging, with J-Lo claiming Jen (Aniston) took her idea.”

Sherri Shepherd is stepping into the ring. The View’s resident noodle noggin will make a special appearance on WWE Friday Night SmackDown when World Wrestling Entertainment drops into NYC’s Madison Square Garden May 1.
Sherri –who celebrated her birthday with her fellow View moderators on Wednesday– will play along with a running SmackDown storyline by climbing into the corner with WWE Superstar MVP on next week’s show.

Candy Spelling Continues To Leak Info To The Press

Candy Spelling is desperate to end her long-running feud with her daughter Tori. The pair has been at odds since the former 90210 star revealed that she practically disinherited following the death of her father, television mogul Aaron Spelling, in 2006.
In her latest attempt to patch things up, Candy recently reached out to Tori in an e-mail proposing “mother-daughter” therapy sessions as a last ditch effort mend their dysfunctional relationship, The National Enquirer claims.
Tori has yet to respond.
If the therapy sessions do go down, would it be to much to ask for them to televise that too??
