Taylor Swift New ‘Band Hero’ Commercial
Posted on 05. Nov, 2009 by CSS.
Music sensation Taylor Swift takes the virtual stage in an all-new edition of Band Hero premiering this month.
Swift fans will be able to live their musical fantasy by performing hits like “Love Story,” “You Belong With Me,” and “Picture To Burn” as Taylor Swift — or alongside the star — on the Band Hero stage.
“Anything that encourages people to pick up an instrument and play, I’m fully behind. And, I’m really excited about Band Hero, because not only are fans getting to play my songs, but I’m actually in the game,” Taylor, a singer/songwriter/guitarist said of the game back in August. “There are so many awesome things that go into being in Band Hero, like getting to customize my band to look like my touring band, and it’s so cool for people to feel like they are experiencing one of my concerts. This is one of the closest things out there to going to see me perform!”

‘Sherlock Holmes’ New Sponsor For ‘Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show’

Sherlock Holmes has stepped up to sponsor next Sunday’s Family Guy special.
The upcoming Warner Bros. film will be the sole sponsor of Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show. Last week, Microsoft abruptly backed out as sponsor of the half-hour comedy-variety program, amid complaints of offensive themes and language. A sneak preview from the December release, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, will air during the broadcast.

Microsoft Pulls The Plug On ‘Family Guy’ Variety Special Advertising
Posted on 27. Oct, 2009 by CSS.

FOX still plans to air Family Guy Presents: Seth and Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show on Nov. 8, but it will be doing so without the support of Microsoft. The network has lost the software giant as the exclusive sponsor of its upcoming Family Guy variety special after the company’s executives watched the show’s taping, Variety says.
Earlier this month, Microsoft announced they were teaming for a collaboration with the side-splitting, envelope-pushing comedy, in a special set to air during FOX’s primetime Sunday animated block. Instead of traditional commercials, the special would have featured interwoven promotion of Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 7.
A 30-second ad during Family Guy costs about $214,750, so the entire half-hour special likely costs Microsoft millions…..but that was before execs actually saw what they were signing up for. The special reportedly contains jokes about deaf people, the Holocaust, feminine hygiene, and incest. Um, how is that any different than a regular episode of Family Guy?
Then executives watched the animated show in a live taping before a studio audience, and subsequently presented this statement announcing its back-out:
“We initially chose to participate in the ‘Seth and Alex’ variety show based on the audience composition and creative humor of ‘Family Guy,’ but after reviewing an early version of the variety show it became clear that the content was not a fit with the Windows brand. We continue to have a good partnership with Fox, (series creator and writer) Seth MacFarlane and (co-star and writer) Alex Borstein and are working with them in other areas. We continue to believe in the value of brand integrations and partnerships between brands, media companies and talent.”

Chris Farley And David Spade Direct TV Ad
Posted on 27. Oct, 2009 by CSS.
Direct TV brought back the late Chris Farley in their new ad campaign and has viewers in a twist citing that it is tasteless and insensitive. But this won’t be the first time the company has used dead celebrities to hype their products. Last year, the company was under attack after featuring Heather O’ Rourke in ‘The Poltergeist’ — she died in 1988 at the age of 12.
I’m not bothered by the ad- I think that it was done with the right person, David Spade. Spade was clearly closer to Farley than any of us and if he thought it was a fitting tribute then so do I. He says at the end of the commercial laughing at Farley, ‘never gets old’ which I thought was a great way for a friend to acknowledgment the hilarity that was Chris Farley.
Spades rep released this statement on behalf of David:
“When DIRECT TV came to me and the Farley family with this idea about ‘Tommy Boy,’ we talked and thought it would be a cool way to remind people just how funny Chris was. It is a clever homage to my friend and a movie that we loved doing, ” he says.

“Desperate Housewives” Sprint Spin-Off Commercials
Posted on 08. Sep, 2009 by CSS.

A Desperate Housewives spin-off is in the works, just in time for the Sept. 27 sixth season premiere of the award-winning ABC dramedy.
The network has inked a deal to produce a series of eight Desperate-themed commercials — which will “unfold as a weekly soap opera” — for mobile phone provider Sprint, Entertainment Weekly has learned. Some of the series’ minor characters may feature as “background extras,” says series Marc Cherry, who will write the spin-off ads.
According to co-executive producer Sabrina Wind, the ads will be shot by Desperate Housewives crew members on the Desperate Housewives set and be penned by Desperate Housewives writers.
“It’s very Desperate Housewives,” adds exec producer Sabrina Wind. “It was shot on our set, with our crew, and written by our writers.”
The 35-sec spots promise to feature plenty of “wicked dark humor, murder and adultery and betrayal.”
