Actor Dennis Hopper has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is canceling all travel plans to focus on treatment, a rep for the screen legend told The Associated Press Thursday evening.
The 73-year-old Oscar nominee is calling off his travel plans in order to receive treatment in a “special program” at the University of Southern California, Hopper’s manager Sam Maydew tells The AP.
“We’re hoping for the best,” Maydew says of the Hopper’s prognosis.
Hopper was forced to cancel his appearance at an exhibition at the Australian Center for the Moving Image in Melbourne called “Dennis Hopper and the New Hollywood,” a collection of artwork and photography by the actor.
Hopper — who hospitalized with the flu in August– recently finished shooting the second season of his Starz drama Crash. He also has several film projects in the works.
Best wishes for Hopper and a healthy recovery!
