Baywatch star David Hasselhoff has compared himself to drug-addled singer Amy Winehouse, saying that the pair share an addiction to alcohol that is “a universal problem.”
The singer/actor was admitted to rehab last month amid reports he accidentally hit a doctor during a booze binge. The Hoff has also been hospitalized on two separate occasions this year suffering from alcohol poisoning.
The star is now openly acknowledging that he has a drinking problem.
“The problem that I’ve experienced in my own life and some of the stuff that’s been documented about Amy is a universal problem. It’s an illness. You don’t wake up in the morning and decide to have this problem.”
I think it is very courageous for David to finally speak out about his struggle which has been publicly known for some time. It is so true, no one plans on being an alcoholic-it’s a disease- and I wish him the best with his recovery.
