Hayden Panettiere Pitched Lesbian Story For ‘Heroes’

It was pint-sized star Hayden Panettiere who suggested her Heroes character, cheerleader Claire Bennett, should take a walk on the wild side with another woman on the hit sci-fi series this season.
Claire will fall for her college roommate, ‘Gretchen’ played by Madeleine Zima, in an upcoming plot-line and Hayden claims it was she who came up with the sapphic story.
“I kinda threw it out there… They (writers) put you in relationships and I was like, ‘Can I just be with a girl or something…? Let’s do that.’ So they took it and ran with it. She’s a great girl… and we have a blast.”
