Don Imus is battling Stage II prostate cancer. The 68-year-old radio host made the announcement on his WABC radio show Monday morning.

Imus says his doctors believe his disease is fully treatable.

“The day you find out is fine,”
he said. “But the next morning when you get up, your knees are shaking. I didn’t think I could make it to work,” says the entertainer, who was diagnosed last Wednesday. The National Cancer Institute defines Stage II prostate cancer as “cancer that began in the prostate and is more advanced than stage I, but has not grown outside the prostate.”

In April 2007, Don Imus sparked public outrage after he referred to the Rutgers women’s basketball team as “nappy headed hos.”
