Columbia Drops Kelly Rowland From Label, "No Longer Commercially Viable"

Kelly Rowland has reportedly been dropped by her record label just two months after firing former manager Mathew Knowles.
Despite the fact that her first two solo albums sold more than four million copies, the “Dilemma” singer has been dumped from Columbia Records because company bosses believe she is “no longer commercially viable” as an artist.
Kelly Rowland shot to fame in 1997 as part of the R&B group Destiny’s Child. The Houston, TX native released her first solo album, Simply Deep, in 2002. It was commercial flop. The LP was followed up by Ms. Kelly in 2008.
Ouch! I have always thought that Kelly is extremely talented but could never stand outside Beyonce’s shadow. It’s a shame that Columbia canned her but maybe the saying will hold true for her, when one door closes another one opens!
