Amy Winehouse Up For Movie Role?

Amy Winehouse is up for her first feature film role— provided she can stay off crack for longer than five minutes.
The 25-year-old “Rehab” hitmaker has been approached by Universal Pictures to play an inspiring music teacher in an upcoming film about a school of troubled students, Britain’s Sun reported on Wednesday.

Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyer’s name is being tossed around as a possible co-star.

“The movie is a bit like Michelle Pfeiffer’s film Dangerous Minds. Playing a music teacher will allow Amy to use her singing skills,” says a Sun insider.

Movie bosses have offered Amy acting lessons with the help of a trained coach if she opts to accept their offer.

“She has been offered an acting coach called Matt Ryan from the Royal Academy of Music Theatre Department in London.”

“But she needs to improve her health and state of mind, or the opportunity will be withdrawn,” the source adds. “You can’t have a teacher looking like a scrawny crack addict….”

I am not so sure about this one- it sounds good on paper but do we even really know if Amy’s gotten her act together? I would think she wouldn’t be able to be insured on a film set…
